Blackberry Curve 9360

Hello, my mum is coming up for an upgrade soon, and she wants to get this phone. However, she does not want it with ANY blackberry data on the price plan. But vodafone only seem to do it with the data.

Is there any way to just have a plan with texts and minutes without changing network completely?

Cheers

Re: Blackberry Curve 9360

Will she be wanting to do anything internet related at all with the blackberry, as not a lot will work without BIS

If not there would be cheaper devices with full keyboards that you can get to just act as a phone.

Re: Blackberry Curve 9360

Well on networks such as o2 they have deals with just texts and calls..

It just a quick question.

We are also looking into the BlackBerry Torch 9860 which can be got at 15.50 a month with no internet.

:-)

Just out of curiosity which one would you think is best?

[ Edited ]

I'm curious as to why any network would offer this, so am currently looking at the o2 website, selected a BB9360, and it's tariffs are only offering 100mb, 500mb or 1gb plans

You can get sim-only plans that can have as much or little data as you want as they don't care what handset you put them in, and you will be charged accordingly if any is ever used.

The 9860 is the higher specced of the 2, but personally I'd go for the 9360 out of the 2 as I couldn't do without my physical keyboard (or the 9810/9900 if wanting to have touch screen)

on o2, 24 month, no data, there are 2 15.50 plans, neither are offering me a blackberry :smileysad:

Edit: And you can get a 9300 from VF with data for 15.50p/m :smileyhappy: which is near enough the same handset as the 9360, especally if not being used as a blackberry

Re: Blackberry Curve 9360

It was my understanding that Blackberries can only send and receive Text messages or MMS when they're connected to either BIS or BES - is that not correct?

Re: Blackberry Curve 9360

standard SMS text messages don't need any data services to work, so they should be fine without any blackberry packages... once you start wanting to use the internet and BBM then you will need either BIS or BES

Hi raymartin52

Thank you for your post and it is great to see you here.:smileyhappy:

There has been some fantastic support from grolschuk already which is spot on.

In order to send an MMS data is used and you will need to ensure that your APN settings are correct, however BBM and the BlackBerry services are a fantastic way to communicate.

Many Thanks
