3 months later and the response is, "It wasn't us.. it was RIM"
If this has been pushed out by RIM, then why does an identical phone on exactly
the same contract bought around the same time not have the "link" on it?

mod david, im sorry but thats a blatant lie, almost libelous against RIM.
Poynt have signed an agreement with Vodafone UK and the press release is available for you to read Here
Also i hate to tell you your job, but networks have control over what non essential servicebooks are distributed over their network.
the fact you openly lie about its origin shows complete and utter contempt for your customers

As DAve pointed out:
Pathetic, it is almost as if we are expected to believe every word voda say even though they are blatantly wrong, all the information is on the press releases and other documents listed on this thread and also in the OS6 upgrade thread.
The links are from voda, they actively put them on there so it is their problem.
Do Voda care??
NO!!!!
But they are quite happy to mislead and blame others ot do the mods not actually know themselves???
From the state of this thread and the OS6 Upgrade thread obviously not.

Voda as a network are very good,
It is only when you need support from customer services or a response on the forum does the service massively fail.
Most of the operators on CS have not got a clue and simply follow the script on their computer. The numerous times I have phoned CS about this issue I have got 6 differing answers:
1. I installed it by accident.
2. One of my children must have done it.
3. That simply cannot happen as voda do not do that.
4. I will send you a new sim card as that has caused it.
5. to remove them select manual roam, select another network then you can delete them.
only once did an operative say they came via a service book (thank you to the operator in Egypt).
The forum is not much better and the last post by the mods is blatantly wrong as can be seen by the press release linked to earlier. That is why people are frustrated you cannot get a straight answer from anyone.

Hello,
I can assure you we are not lying. We have confirmed with our PR team that the announcement you've highlighted did not come from Vodafone and our technical team have re-confirmed that the links in question were pushed by RIM, but with our authorisation. This is in line with how other similar content is delivered to devices used by our customers. There are no plans to remove the icon or its related links, although following the set of instructions in my previous post will enable you to hide the content if you wish to do so.
Thanks
David

So after 4 months of a mod saying it wasn't us, we find out it was you (we knew that anyway after the press release from Poynt 2 months ago!!!!).
Please tell us how to remove them......
Obviously if you got the first bit wrong ie who authorised them then there is a good chance you got the second bit wrong ie How to remove them???

Here's how to remove Poynt and the other icons. Using a BB Torch.
Options -> Device -> Advanced -> Service Book
Scroll down to Poynt, press your BlackBerry key and then hit delete.
Make sure you only delete Poynt, 360, and music shop (if you want to be rid of those services). The other service books are needed and shouldn't be deleted.
While I can understand Vodafone pushing this software to their subsidised handsets, my Torch was purchased outright from an independent dealer and has nothing to do with Vodafone. Don't see why I should have adverts placed on my device.
