Hi,
I have had my Blackberry torch since August 2011 and it has worked ok, however this morning i woke up to find the wifi unconnected, when i try to connect it just says "unable to obtain an IP address", i have tried my sim in a different phone and it works fine and othersare able to connect to the same network.
I also contacted someone earlier who said to do a "soft reset" which was taking battery out of the phone a few times but still nothing.
Has anyone encountered this before? Can it be fixed or is the phone dead?
Thanks

Hi Luke.
An absolute worst case is that the phone's wifi chip has failed but it's more likely that the phone & router are just having difficulty in handshaking. If the phone recognises that the wifi is there & available, it must be working but the problem is that the BB & the router cannot agree on an IP address.
Have you reset (turned off/on) the router?
How is the router set up to assign IP addresses - static by MAC address or dynamic (the most likely)?
If static - check that the BB's MAC is still entered correctly.
Have you tried deleting the wifi profile from your BB & starting afresh with a new connection?
Hope this helps.
