Hi please help,just got my daughter her blackberry curve 8520 for Christmas, but having problems getting access to the internet,the phone came with free blackberry messenger for 6 months its on pay as you go with £10 credit which give her 300 text and 500mb free.some one please help.

Hiya, if you are having difficulty accessing the internet then it could either by the settings are incorrect or that GPRS has not been set up on your account correctly.  Can you access the internet if you use the sim card in another phone ?

I would call customer services from your handset and a quick check to see if you have GPRS can be done

Hi,

A bit more information that would help out diagnose the problem

- what error message do you get when you can't get on to the internet?

- are you able to make calls?

- what signal strength is displaying on the phone (top corner of the screen)

- In the top corner do you see GSM, gsm, GPRS, gprs or 3G, EDGE etc?

it says unable to connect to internet please try later.

can make calls and text ok.

have full signal strength.

 the top corner says  edge.

just tryed the sim in my phone on it connected to the internet.

we have had the same problem phoned 40035 pressed option 1 got sent reg code registered that still nothing phoned vodafone spoke with a lovely lady who said it will send text to confirm its activated but it could take an hour to 24 hrs

Phone isnt properly provisioned.

Try options-advanced options-host routing table-bb key-register now.

That will re put you on the bb network and resend service books.
atleast on other phones it does.

its quite possible with payg and bb combined , the customer services havent got a clue how to check for relevant information to check it.

thats one happy daughter phoned now access the internet.

it was the blackberry internet service which was stopping her connecting i think.

phoned 40035 and opted in to the blackberry internet service.it's free  till june 2011.

thorough it was all set up when i bought the the phone,will be going bck to see if the phone is fully sorted.

Sorry to see that you haven't been able to register your BlackBerry

If any BlackBerry is not able to get access to the internet, the most common issue is if the BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) is provisioned on your account.

On contract packages, you will need this as part of the package, or if you are on PAYT there is currently a free offer to gain access.

So that we can make sure that this is set up for you, please reply to the email that I have sent to you with the relevant information, we can then check this out.

but will anything come up, or how will you know if it worked or not?, because mine still says that im not able to access the internet.

I have just bought a Blackberry Curve that will not access the internet.   I have tried ringing 40035 to activate but it does not seem to recognise that I am ringing from a Blackberry so I just get stuck in a loop.

Please help!

Hi,

I have a similar problem. My daughters Blackberry Curve 8520 was on PAYG and had no problems with Blackberry Messenger, Facebook and Windows Live Messenger installed apps.

She has recently gone over to a 30 day SIM only contract and now all the apps don't work even over our home Wifi connection which connects fine. She can use the home Wifi connection to connect to the internet browser but the apps are causing her a headache !!

The Service Status says Blackberry Internet Service Connection: Wi-Fi

The top right corner connection fluctuates between gprs and edge not noticed 2G or 3G !

Can anyone help get the apps working ??

Have sent the Host Routing Table rigistration numerous times !!

There is a major issue with the Blackberry service, its on the news at the moment anyone using Blackberry cant access the interent or BBM

Having problem with my Blackberry curve 8520. Everything works apart from the INTERNET which i received free with vodafone freebies. It also comes up with edge no EDGE which i eard is a problem. Any help?! Ive been with vodafone for years now and have faced nothing but problems. If i cant get this issue fixed im just gonna switch over to giffgaff. Someone helpplease

Thanks for your post. There's a couple of things that we'll need to double check for you. Firstly, please could you confirm if you have the correct APN settings on your phone? These can be found here - Vodafone APN settings for both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go.
