Blackberry is locked

A few weeks ago I bought a Blackberry 9780 vodafone UK locked on the internet. When I recieived it the Blackberry was blocked, so I went with it to a phone shop. They looked at it and said that the previous owner had filled in the unlock code wrong more than 10 times. Now I can't do anything with the telephone.

Because I'm living in the Netherlands I called Vodafone NL, but they said that I had to contact Vodafone UK.

Does anyone know what I could do? I already tried to update the telephone but that doesn't work.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Blackberry is locked

the fact that it was obviously like that when it was sold to you would cause me to worry personally.

id suggest asking the person who you purchased it from for a refund if its not as advertised

Re: Blackberry is locked

Thanks for your reply. The problem is that the seller don't want to refund because he said that there was nothing wrong with it when he gave it to me. So a refund would solve the problem but is impossible. Is there a possibility so send the telephone to Vodafone UK or something?

Re: Blackberry is locked

If the phone was faulty when received by you because the unlock code had been entered incorrectly by the previous user,  you will have to go back to the seller and demand your money back.

You dont mention which online site you used to purchased  the phone, but if you paid by PayPal, you will have to contact them, make a claim and get your money back that way.

Re: Blackberry is locked

Unfortunately, that is not an option. I bought in on Ebay but I chose for paying cash and pick up the blackberry myself because the Blackberry was in the same city as where I live so I don't have Paypal buyers protection. I have check the phone if it works but I couldn't test if I coul make a call because I first had to unlock the phone.

The seller don't want to cooperate. I report it with Ebay, but because I didn't use paypal I don't have any protection.

So my question is. Can I send this to Vodafone or Blackberry (RIM)?

Re: Blackberry is locked

Hi niels91

I have to admit that this is a difficult situation.

If the phone is still network locked, the original owner will need to request the Network Unlock Code, and then the phone needs to be on the UK network for the unlock to go through.

I would like to see what we can do, but I need the IMEI number and the BlackBerry PIN to check this. I have therefore sent you an email, if you can reply back to that with the relevant information, which would be fantastic.

Thanks

Martin

Re: Blackberry is locked

Unlocking the device from a carrier is very easy and cheap too. But if it is blocked, it sounds really suspect to me (no offence)
