Does anyone know about parental control on the Blackberry? My daughter is only ten and I want to install something that either protects the phone like parental control PC software does - or allows me to monitor what she's doing.

I certainly understand your concern and appreciate why you would like to ensure protection of your daughter.

Whenever you take a handset from us it automatically has a content control bar placed and this can only be removed by calling us or you can remove this yourself on your 'My Account', this prevents content that may be deemed inappropriate for the ages below 18 years.

Thanks very much for your reply.

I've had a read about 'Content Control' on the website and confirmed that it's activated on my daughter's new Blackberry via 'My Account'.

However, if I search for 's*x' in Google on her phone it finds various websites - including pornographic ones. So, why isn't content control filtering these?

Hi louisecollings,

The content control restriction is set to filter out content on web pages, therefore although it will show in a Google search when you try to access the web page you will be presented with the content control message.

I have just checked my 11 year olds BlackBerry device and found that when searching for s*x on google not only could get search results but i could also enter pornographic websites. The Content Control is activated on her handset as confirmed by your website but doesn't appear to be having any effect.

I'm intensely worried by this and on the verge of returning the handset to you - this needs sorting FAST.
