Bold 9700 - Poor battery life

I've had my Bold for 4 months and never had much life out of the battery. I hear other users get up to 3 days life out of their batteries even with frequent use.
From fully charged, with minimal use, I get around 20 hours, meaning I have to charge it every night otherwise it dies by the morning.
During the day, on standby, even without any usage, I usually drop 60% from 100%.
I've followed all the troubleshooting tips about preserving battery life including: screen brightness, exiting apps properly, charging when battery reaches 40%, turning off things like Bluetooth, but nothing seems to help.
Any suggestions?
If I have a faulty battery and have insurance on my plan, do I just ask for a new one at the store?

Hi Grasshopper,
Not sure about the battery exchange process - I'm sure a mod can help with that - but if they can't do anything for you and you decide to get a new battery I've heard good things about the Seidio ones ( e.g. http://www.bolddepot.com/seidio-innocell-1750mah-o
Do you use the facebook/twitter apps? I found they impacted upon my battery life pretty badly when I had them auto-checking for new messages. I have both of them set to off now so they only poll for new messages when you start up the programs. Other than that, it sounds like you know all the usual battery saving tips and tricks. Good luck with getting a new one!

Hi Grasshopper
Sorry to see that you are having battery issues. I have to admit that it is frustrating when you have to charge your battery up frequently.
Phrrhic, has given some good information on automatic updates, I do know that these can drain the battery.
The insurance is there to cover for broken or lost handsets, and depending on what phone you have, there is an access fee. This fee would normally cover the cost of a new battery.
If you have any further questions please let us know.
