Data problems on Storm 9500

Telling this chronologically as it may help...

Went to work this morning (Leeds LS10) and found my coverage had dropped to GSM (upper case). Waited to see if it rectified itself but it didn't. Even on commute home (to BD19) there was no change.

At home did a hard reset and got 3G plus BIS symbol back. Yay.

However, since then I've had problems with data and SMS services. Emails, Twitter, Facebook and texts are not being updated. I can't connect to Twitter nor FB via the BB apps. I can't send updates or texts.

If I turn off data services (in Manage Network Options) then turn them back on again, I get a burst of data which delivers stuff which has been waiting but then nothing. Same happens if I do a hard restart. I also resent service books and again got a burst of data straight away but nothing after that.

I've run the diagnostic test. ICMP Ping Echo says no. Blackberry registration says no. Connected to Blackberry and Blackberry Pin-Pin says Abort. Connection tests to email accounts are aborted too. All this despite having the 3G and BIS logos in the corner.

The arrow symbol in the corner of the screen (usually double headed to show data upload and download) will intermittently flash with the arrow pointing upwards (signifying upload attempts?) as though it's trying to do something.

Any ideas what's going on? Sorry for being long-winded. Tried to give you as much info as poss.

Re: Data problems on Storm 9500

Hi Himupnorth

Thanks for your post here. I'm sorry to hear that you are having such problems with your handset :smileysad: I understand how frustrating this must be for you.

As you have tried the device in a couple of different locations its very very unlikely that its going to be a network issue.

First of all, can you try a manual roam on your device. This is the act of selecting the network you wish to use manually. If you select one that isn't Vodafone first and then switch it back to Vodafone this will refresh the connection to our network.

If this doesn't do anything then I would suggest doing a back up and then factory resetting your device.

Press the BlackBerry key
Press Options
Press Security Options
Press General Settings
Press the BlackBerry key
Press Wipe Handheld
Press Continue
Enter blackberry, press the Return key.

Let me know how you get on and if you have any more questions please let me know

Thanks

Wayne
