Early upgrade

i have just come across this forum discussion, after having more trouble with vodafone customer service. I have had problems after problems with vodafone for the past few years, but have always been convinced to stay with them. I have held a contract with vodafone for years now, and have spent a lot of money on contracts and phones over these years. I recently broke my blackberry, and rang up to see if i coould have an early upgrade. I was told that i coud not upgrade until jan 2012. I then found out i was issued a 24 month contract, when i asked for a 18th month one. I am not sure what to do, as  i need a phone for ever day business, but customer  service does not seem to be to botherd about it, as logn as you take my £30+ a month i supose its ok? Im having trouble with convincing my sel fto stay with vodafone, and will belooking for alternative options if somthing can not be resovled. The worst thing is, from this discusion it seems that it affects other customers too.

Re: Early upgrade

hi pep,

as far as the 24mnth instead of 18month contract goes, you would need to contact vodaphone officially to point out that this was miss sold. you would need proof that this was the case (any calls within the 30 day cooling off period for reading the paperwork? )

if you dont have any evidence / proof that this was the case i think you may be at a loss im afraid. as it clearly stated you need to read your documentation to confirm that all the terms are correct. i too had a lot of problems with my contract at its last renewal (around 20 months ago) so had ot call them a few dozen times in the first month to argue over missing minutes, or overcharged acounts etc.

sticky within it until renewal time andthen access whether its really worth the hassle. :smileywink:

Re: Early upgrade

I am in exactly the same situation. I have broken my iphone but its not insured.

I have rung Vodafone to see if we can negotiate an early upgrade but the only option they give me is to take out a 3rd contract (we already have 2) and pay for an extra contract.

I dont ant to do this and we have had serious problems with Vodafone this year.

I think i am just going to put my line rental down to the lowest band and get my PAC code to migrate to another provider.

That is, unless Vodafone to reward my loyalty but negotiating an early upgrade.

I feel the customer service leaves a lot to be desired and everyone of my friends/work mates are on O2 and never have any problems.

Its a shame such a big network is constantly let down by bad customer service and the need to just make as much money out of customer as possible without having to help anycustomers out!!!

Re: Early upgrade

Hi Marcdooler, welcome to the eForum!

I'd love to see if we can help you with an early upgrade - there is a limit to how long we can put you into contract for, but generally if you've got 10 months or less to go on your contract we can help :smileywink:

I've sent you an email, reply to this for me and we'll be in touch :smileyvery-happy:

Hi I have had the same problem I dropped my iphone but I had insurance with someone else long story short they couldn't fix it so I have contacted vodafone on numerous occasions today and all I get is different stories first I was told I can't upgrade till July 2012 that's wrong because my contract finishes in February then December then august  I explained this to them and all they offered me was to buy a £20 phone from there shop or buy my way out of the contract so I can upgrade ??? I thought the point of the early upgrade was because I can't afford to buy a good phone and I don't want I £20 phone I also thought vodafone would reward my loyalty as I have 3 lines with them and the bill comes in at £150+ every month can anyone help?? ionly have 7 months left in my contract

Re: Early upgrade

I have a similar problem.

Basically my blackberry broke so I took it into my local Vodafone store today to get it repaired and they have sent it off for me. However I got home to find an email reply off customer services saying I am eligible for an upgrade soon! So is it worth it me cancelling my repair on my current phone as I am willing to wait a month for an upgrade (which is when I am eligible).

Please help! Thanks.

Re: Early upgrade

Hi guys,

kayleigh68355 - I'm sorry if there's been conflicting information over when your upgrade is available. I'm going to pop an email down to you so that we can call and go through the options together manually. We'll be happy to help if you just send a reply with all the requested details along with the handset(s) you have in mind :smileyhappy:

emily_maxwell - Welcome to the eForum! You can still get your Blackberry repaired under warranty AND have us look at an early upgrade for you if you like? I've sent you an email too so if you could also reply with as much information as possible, we'll get back in touch :smileyhappy:

Re: Early upgrade

HI there.

My iphone 3GS broke halfway through my contract and stupidly didnt have insurance, my contract ends in november and am sick of buying cheap phones when in reality i shoul have an iphone. i noticed the early upgrade scheme online and first thought that it was an amazing idea but when looking closely at the plans especially for the iphone i was disappointed. it seems alot of money to upgrade and then there is also the one off payment. i was just wondering if there are any other cheaper plans for the iphone 4 on the early upgrade scheme. i am currently looking elsewhere when i can get an iphone 4 and then cancelling my contract with vodafone. i dont want to do this but feel it may be my only option.

Re: Early upgrade

Hi petermclellan,

The iPhone is the one phone where we have no leeway on prices - what is available is the same via all channels.

Early upgrades cost more not because we don't reward loyalty, but because your contract is calculated based on the length, services included and the value of your handset. If you upgrade before the standard upgrade period then this affects the value of the contract, so this is reflected in only being able to offer more expensive deals.

If you do wish to arrange an early upgrade, I've popped you an email to enable you to speak with our upgrade team. As mentioned, the iPhone price won't be different to what you've been quoted by us already, but they can also discuss other options including possibly an Android phone or the cheaper iPhone 3GS.

Re: Early upgrade

Hi,

I've experienced similar issues to others in this thread. I have two phones on 24 month contracts, both are 18 months in, but been told I can't upgrade early. Both phones have been dropped several times, one of them just switches off randomly, vibrates randomly, and doesn't always ring, which is far from ideal, but I accept it's my own fault.

I've been with Vodaphone for a number of years now, and also have a dongle on contract, all i'm looking for is a little flexibility from Vodafone.

I've spoken to several customer service members, and after numerous calls have got nowhere.

I've been advised by someone to downgrade my contracts to the cheapest available, then cancel the contracts, but I haven't actually had any issues with Vodafone otherwise, so this would be my last resort. However I can't keep going with these phones for another 6 months, so am prepared to try anything now...

Any help/advice would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Re: Early upgrade

I am in a similar situation.

I am told on the website that the earliest I can upgrade is Jan 28th. I was burgled literally DAYS after I upgraded in May last year and as I had not had a chance to set up any insurance VF just blocked the phone and were unable/unwilling to even offer me a discount on a new handset. :smileysad:

So I have had to shell out twice in the last 18 months for handsets that I didn't really like but were the best I could afford, and all I really want is an iphone...

I would really appreciate some help with this:smileyindifferent:

Hi rachel26,

I'm gutted to hear about your burglary! Of course I can have a look at early upgrade options with you on the iPhone. Bear in mind that the queue for the iPhone 4S is a good 2-4 weeks depending on the size you select so if you're in a rush I'd consider the iPhone 4 too. It still has many of the iOS5 features onboard since the software update earlier this month. :smileywink:

I've popped an email down to you so if you'd like to reply with as much info as possible we'll be in touch to get you kitted out.

Cheers, Ben

Re: Early upgrade

Hi,

My contract started in March 2011 and after a few months, many of the phone's functions stopped working. Vodafone posted me a replacement phone (even though I could tell it was not a new phone) and a few months after that, my replacement phone stops working (it keeps rebooting over and over again).

I am tired of this Blackberry 9800 and vodafone's services as when I called up customer services, all they could do was make me travel the 12 miles to my local vodafone store and send my phone off for repair which means I live without my blackberry for 5-7 working days. Either that or wait for a pre-paid envelope to arrive (totalling 10 days without a phone)

To me, this doesn't make sense as earlier on in the year, a replacement phone was given so that I didn't have to live without a phone; but now that a more severe problem has occured, vodafone seem reluctant to help me. Instead, they expect me to live without communication for 5-7 working days.

So, to recap; Vodafone exchanges a faulty phone with another faulty phone.

Not happy.

Re: Early upgrade

Ben, You are an absolute star!

You have literally made my day. I am so grateful!

I was ready to give up on Vodafone after my quite frankly ridiculously unhelpful conversation with customer services but you have restored my faith!

Thanks again

Rachel
