Gprs Is In Lower Case

I have had my blackberry curve 8900 for some time now but got so fed up with trying to set it up i eventually gave up and now use it for basic calls and texts.
I was on the phone to vodafone for a good 2 weeks trying to resolve the problem but nothing got fixed.
In the top right hand corner the gprs is in lower case and i have been informed that this is supposed to be in upper case as it shows that my phone is on the blackberry server and will then enable my email and bb messenger to work. I rang vodafone to make sure I was on the server and they said i am and i will be getting a message shortly to activate my phone....which i never received. I tried the host routing table register now method, i have re-sent service books etc re booted the whole phone back to its original settings, still nothing has worked.
please please please can someone help?

hiya,
try logging onto your BIS account via the email setup app on the phone or preferably via a pc at http://mobileemail.vodafone.net and use the change device wizard to make sure your imei and pin are registered to your account.

Also, Im assuming youve done a battery pull (for say a minute or so) ?

Gprs Is In Lower Case

Hello louise850 and welcome to the eForum, :)

I would go so far as to say I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is, and would like to take a closer look at this for you. Please check your inbox for the email I'm sending to you, I'd appreciate it if you could reply as quickly as possible so I can take a look at this (due to finish for the day but will be in tomorrow morning).

As soon as we receive the email we'll look into this for you.

Thanks

Re: Gprs Is In Lower Case

Im also having the same problem with my 8520, signed up for online account and opted in for BIS.  Had an email thanking me for joining BIS.  But my online account does not show that i am opted in.  Spoke to vodafone who said it should be 24 hrs, but last week my wifes phone was set up within the hour and no isses.  My gprs is in lower case.  Tried the host routing but doesnt do nothing.  Really frustrated about the whole situation.  Hope someone can help

Re: Gprs Is In Lower Case

Hi emma95,

Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here :smileyhappy:.

If you're seeing gprs in lower case, then your Blackberry may not be configured for BIS correctly. So that we can check your account, I've sent you an email. If you reply with all the details, then I'll be in touch as soon as I can.

Also, I've edited out your email address for your own privacy as this is a public forum it can be seen by anyone.

Kind Regards,

George

Re: Gprs Is In Lower Case

Hi jparmar,

Many thanks for confirming you only see gprs in lower case.

This is definitely because you’re not provisioned for BlackBerry Internet Services (BIS) on your account.

I’ll pop an email over to your registered eForum address. If you can reply to that email then we’ll be in touch.

For anyone else reading, it would be just as quick for you to contact 191 and ask for BIS to be provisioned on your account.

Cheers,

Lee

Re: Gprs Is In Lower Case

Very little to go on here amish ... this is an old thread & covers a number of causes/issues.  Could you give more details?

A few questions to start with ...

What BB are you using?

Are you on PAYG?

If so, have you activated BIS (Blackberry Internet Service/Solution)?

Is this a recent problem?

Are Data Services (in Mobile Network options) set to ON?

Have you tried a battery pull?

Have you checked the network board & the network troubleshooter mentioned above?
