Had Enough

I have had my Storm since January this year. I am not due for an upgrade til at least April/May. The extra money that I having to pay out for the rest of the contract is not right to say the signal/battery issues are still there and have been since day one. I do not want my phone sending off for repair as it is clear that RIM and VF have no idea what the problem is.

I have had to resort to getting a second contract out with a Storm 2, should be arriving today. By me still paying my £35 per month, and hopefully downgrading the package each month - that should be cheaper than having to buy a SIM-free Storm 2 to have the phone usage that we were promised when we all bought our phones in the first place.

I still think that VF or RIM should offer a deal to those with Storms to get upgraded phones, or offer them a new contract starting from now but with a proper phone that works ie Storm 2 or other choice.

I am not happy with the way the whole Storm thing has been handled, I know the Mods on here have been brilliant with trying to sort things out, often beyond their control, and I appreciate their assistance and the help from all the other users on this eforum.

What is not right though is the continued injustice of us having to take the option of hand in pocket again to end our troubles. I await the Watchdog episode and expect the usual upgrading firmware tosh that will probably be claimed.

I seem to be in the minority here, but I have had no major problems with my Storm 9500. In fact I think it's great. Maybe it's because I'm in Ireland? I don't know. Anyway, the only problem I had was not being able to get maps on it. But I sorted that out with some help on this forum.
As I say... I'm pleased as punch with the Storm and have no intentions of changing it.

My advice to you would be to take Vodafone to court to claim back the moeny you have paid out on your Storm 1 contract. This is what I had to do. Should it get to court & you have prepared your case properly you will get your money back plus compensation & the contract will be null & void.

Thats how I ended up gettig my faulty Storm swapped for a Storm 2, it took nine months of complaining & getting nowhere, I commenced legal action & Vodafone suddenly got their act together & gave me what I wanted.

First question - do those of us that donated their Storms, for investigation by Rim, have any rights under the Freedom of Information Act, to view any data or reports generated by the tests?.

Now! this one, not sure if it actually happened or if i was seeing things. Last night i was trying to access the forum, from my Storm, of course the pages wouldn't load so i looked to see if the signal had dropped out but the BB 3G icon was being displayed, however right behind the BB 3G, the damned SOS was displayed at the same time. So! anyone else had this? or is it just my Storm trying to find new ways of driving me nuts

Also still waiting for news on what our options are going to be, to avoid us Storm 1ers being left in the lurch, seeing as my replacement Storm (direct from the manufacturers) is still no better. Though i will admit the battery life is an improvement.

Hi all,

It has been disappointing to know some of you guys have been suffering numerous issues with your Storms. At this time, the only thing I can direct everyone to is our official statement on the Storm situation. As most of you know, it's been raised to the highest level and we're working with RIM to help them find resolution to some of the phone's technical bugs.

I must admit that after 15 years with VF, I have now reached the end of the road, the storm just doesnt do what I need, and lets me down at the worst times. After speaking to Customer services many times I give up now, I realise that the only way out of this is to buy a new phone on a different network and pay this contract off. After so many years faithful to VF I feel very let down and certainly dont feel a valued customer at all.

I feel the Storm, as many have said, has shown the true colours of VF, and when we needed support, we got none and were pushed out into the cold, as if we were too much trouble to be bothered with.

Well I for one am now classing myself as an EX VF customer!

Trouble is Daz:
1. I am pretty confident that IF the signal issue was easily fixable then it would have been done by now, it has not been and yet it is approaching a year since I purchased, and
2. By the time the appropriate finger has been extracted I will have reached the end of my contract and patience with Vodafone and Blackberry

Not only that, but only now is the software starting to behave itself - so I have already had over 50% of my contract with a duff user experience.

Therefore my only option (apart from lying down and accepting the unacceptable) is to vote with my feet. I realise one customer ain't a lot of concern for Vodafone, but I hope that all who have had experiences like this will do the same and Vodafone will realise they can't just treat us all like mugs.

On the one hand I feel sorry for you because actually there's nothing you can do about it, on the other hand these issues keep you and your colleagues in work!! Not sure you'll thank us for it, though

Seriously, unless there is something dramatic before the end of the year from Vodafone's side in either fixing the signal issue OR compensating. I will be an ex-customer in April.

1. VF is a private company so I don't think the freedom of information act applies.
2. I get random drop of 3G but never seen the SOS behind it before.
3. Two choices. A - Suck it up or B - wait 'til your contract expires and leave (my prefered option).

Just not quite sure from what I read whether it is worth getting one... my only question is whether it fixes the signal issue. Everything else is just beside the point.

its been said that the storm 1 running the leaked os 5 solves the 3g problem, i cant back it up personally as if you do install the leaked version your warranty will be void. As the storm 2 also has os 5 as default then im not surprised it has solved that problem :)

Not downgrading my NEW contract, I've downgraded my OLD contract (or original contract) - I'm now paying a lower rate for 'Contract 1' than I was previously and they said I can change it to a lower amount again in future should I wish.

Storm 2 is the phone that Storm 1 should have been, no signal worries, battery life is amazing, and I just wish that I didn't have to put my Storm 1 up for sale to pay out the rest of my contract.
