Hi
I have a blackberry 9300 and I was wondering if you could help me. My father lives in Ireland (Co Kerry) and only has a mobile phone and no landline and it is costing me a fortune to call either from mobile or landline. Does anyone know if I can use a VOIP (I think that is what its called) to get free internet calling between the mobile such as skpe or another one.
I have been advised that I could get an irish sim card to use and then it would be charged as a national call but not sure about this. Is this allowed? i seem to think that I would get charged as if I was calling from abroad is this right?
Any help would be very grateful

Hello Woody
Voip is not supported on Vodafone. Please see the following previous thread.
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-Service
You could send your Father a Vodafone UK PAYG SIM which you would need to top up on his behalf. You would then be calling a UK mobile number and the calls will then be taken from your inclusive minutes. If Passport is added to the PAYG SIM, your Father would then pay the 75p connection charge to receive your call.

The fact that you're calling an Irish mobile means that any method is going to be more expensive than we'd like. I'm pretty sure VOIP will not be an option (it would require a high-speed, 3G, internet connection at both ends and, for obvious reasons, mobile phone companies do not like VOIP on their phones).
If you used an Irish SIM (or your father used a UK SIM) one or other of you will be paying considerable connection charges (although the EU is forcing these costs down).
Calling an Irish mobile from Vodafone seems to cost me 12p/min plus VAT (on a business tariff ... personal is probably different). Bizarrely (and I defy anyone to explain this), this is cheaper than calling a UK mobile out-of-bundle (i.e. once all inclusive minutes are used).
Vodafone seem to offer an International package (http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/man
There are plenty of companies offering cheap international calls (search 'cheap calls ireland' or similar). You dial an 0870 number (between 8p & 15p per minute) followed by the international number. Call quality is not always perfect as many are using the cheapest connections available.
