Mobile internet

None of my internet functions seem to be working on my phone. My emails aren't coming through, I can't get on the internet and my BBM and whatsapp aren't working. Every few hours it seems to connect and I receive emails and whatsapp but I need to get this rectified asap as I rely on emails being sent to my phone for work.

Thank you.

Re: Mobile internet

I think that's a bit of a red herring - my phone's working just fine with 3rd June & 10th June respectively.

Rach ... which BB are you using?

Are you on PAYG or Monthly?

If PAYG are you sure you have sufficient credit?

What is your signal meter showing (gprs/edge in lower case or GPRS/EDGE in capitals)?

(could also be 3G with or without the BB symbol)

If lower case (or 3G without BB symbol), your phone is not connecting to the RIM server - so you will be unable to use any BB data services.

This could be a local network problem (check Faults Board for your area) or it could be a problem with the phone.

First thing to try is a battery pull.  This will reset a number of things and restore the OS in case it's a data corruption somewhere.

Also force Register from the Host Routing Table (in Advanced Options) & repush Service Books (from Email Setup menu).  A battery pull should achieve these two automatically but no harm done.

Hope this helps.

Re: Mobile internet

Its a BB Curve...a year old-no idea on numbers or anything.

Its Pay Monthly and I have never gone over before and it is intermittently working.

At the moment it is showing with capital letters: EDGE

Done a battery pull and at the moment things are working but it seems very up and down. For about 10 minutes every hour I can send and receive online but most of the time emails seem majorly delayed and my internet and whatsapp are not working at all.

Thanks

Re: Mobile internet

Hi rachworthington,

To rule out any network isseus, can you please try the steps in our Network Troubleshooting thread.

If you are still experiencing the issue having completed these steps, post the template with your answers here and I'll have a member of the team get back to you ASAP.

Thanks

Re: Mobile internet

TEMPLATE

1). Does the issue happen in just one location?

No. For the last 24 hours I've had the same problem everywhere I've been. Although occasionally I do get service, I've been in the same place all morning and it's still occasional.

2). Does the issue occur if you try your SIM card in a different phone?

I don't have another phone that is 3G available so I can't try that.

3). Can you check your coverage here? Please bear in mind that this is only a guideline and can never be 100% accurate, particularly for indoor coverage.

It says 'high speed' and it normall fine.

4). Can you check our Faults Board, which contains all the mast issues we’re aware of?
 Couldn't find anything

5). Does this issue happen on 2G/3G or both? To check this, you can amend your phone's network settings. Our Help Centre contains all the instructions - just select your model of phone and then select "network".

Both (I think)

6). What is the full postcode of where the issue occurs? If you’re uncomfortable with this appearing on the forum, then please add it to your profile by clicking “My eForum Settings” on the front page and then selecting “Personal Information”.

SA9 1GU but travelled over the whole Swansea area yesterday and had same problem.

7). How far you have to travel to regain service?

Hasn't changed the issue.

8). Do you get any error messages/tones if you’re having problems with calling/texting?

No problems with calls/texts

Re: Mobile internet

Rach.

Now it's not working again, is your signal meter back to lower case?

Does a battery pull set the phone working again?

How about just switching the Mobile Connection off & on again?

Are you able to access a wifi network?

Re: Mobile internet

Hi rachworthington

Thanks for your reply with the requested information. I've checked the network out in your postcode area the local cell site is accepting traffic for calls and data on both 2G and 3G as normal.

As you are receiving e-mails and messages and your data is working intermittently it wouldn't appear to be an issue with your BlackBerry ID or the network if it's happening everywhere you take your phone. This is more than likely down to either the firmware or the hardware. Just to check, are you on the latest firmware version? You can check this and update your phone on BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

If this doesn't solve the issue then you may be looking at a repair under warranty. You can find more information on warranty and repairs here - Repair a faulty handset or device

Thanks

Simon

Re: Mobile internet

For two days it all seemed to be ok and now today everything is down again. I have updated everything on my phone so I am on the latest firmware. The last time I had a phone sent for repair by vodafone it took almost two months to be fixed. I cannot cope this long without my phone. How long would fixing this take?

Rach ... there was an 'issue' over the weekend with BIS (http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/BlackBerry/BlackBerry-Services/td-p/1182017).  I didn't notice it, but this could be why your phone wasn't connecting.

Is it back up again now?
