Hi,

I am having a problem with my Blackberry Pearl 3g. I was in America and it was working fine but since then I arrived in Seoul, South Korea my BIS stopped working. I rang Vodafone customer service and they resent me my service books but nothing changed. I am now in Hong Kong and it is still no different.

Everytime I try to register my phone on the network its says the request is queued and will be sent when I am in a data network. I have a white triangle but only 3g in lowercase. I tried the online trouble shooter but it wasn't of any use. I tried other advice from this forum, battery pull/ sotware reload but it is also of no avail.

Any suggestions?

Hi Joni.

The obvious things first ... is your Data Services option set to ON as well as ON or PROMPT while Roaming?

(Since you were OK in the US it's probably correct, but no harm in checking.)

Are you able to access any wifi networks (hotel, etc.)?  Does the BB work alright on these?

By 'Register Phone on Network' I assume you mean via the Host Routing Table option?

Have you tried a Network Diagnostic Test?  (via the Network Menu)  This will force a Blackberry Registration in the same way as HRT.

Finally, have you tried manually switching to another network?  (the automatically selected one may be an issue)

Hi Pau1j,

Thanks for your suggestions.  I can access WIFI networks in the hotel and use Whatsapp messenger/ the BB web browser but BBM doesn't work. Sorry, Yes I did mean Host Routing Table Option. I just ran a network test which it failed. After the inital Radio Data Activation Test being No, the rest was aborted. I also tried roaming to a non Vodafone network but there was no change.

Still at a loss,

One other thing ... I assume Vodafone would have checked this when you called them but, could it be a data roaming cap or some anti-fraud measure kicking in?

(Since you've been in three countries in quick succession.)

Thanks Pau1j,

I rang vodafone (again) and it turns out I had a GPRS bar on my phone even though roaming was on. It has been on there since 6th Jan but strangley my BB worked in France, Ireland and the US but only became a problem when I went to Korea. Not 100% sure what a GPRS bar is but in theory I should be up and running in a few hours.
