No Sat-Nav, no Google Maps...

I've just got a new 9900 and when trying to reload Find & Go sat-nav (which I had on my previous one) I'm told the software is not compatible and it's not available. Also tried to reload Google Maps as a temporary alternative for directions, and got a message saying that's not available either. Nor is Weather.com and nor is Dictionary.com. These are the four apps I use most (I'm a writer, and I travel). Are they seriously not available because at the moment I'm using my old phone and may well dispose of the old one

Hi Tim,
The applicaitions you mentioned (Find and Go, Dictionary.com and Weather.com) are not copmatible with the 9900. To find out future availability you would need to contact the developers.
Google Maps should work, a guide here on how to install it however a quick Google showed many people with problems using it.
As for alternatives, have a look at this thread, might be of some use.
Of course if you are wtill within your 7 workin day coooling off period you can return the handset to Vodafone and seek an alternative.

The Weather Channel app is available through App World and is compatible with the Bold 9900.

Although personally, I would probably just use their website m.weather.com as it seems to offer the same information. (Actually, I prefer the BBC's formatting.)
Dictionary.com (the website) redirects to a perfectly usable (adverts aside) mobile website.
The Bold 9900 allows website bookmarks to be placed on the homescreen (via Browser Menu) so you can set up shortcuts to the websites that look like apps on the homescreen.
Google Maps 4.5.3 (m.google.co.uk/maps) is the current version and works just fine on the 9900 although it will not give you turn-by-turn voice directions (this would undermine Google's pushing of GMaps for Android which does).
Blackberry Maps (installed out of the box) isn't bad either. Much better than it used to be, at any rate.
Hope this helps.
