I have opted to receive and be able to view my bills online but I am unable to complete registration without a pin or account number.
I tried to text account to the number 9886 I believe and then it asked for my postcode, which it said was incorrect, but it is the postcode I gave when I got the contract. Is there any other way I am able to get my account number or pin?

The quickest way to get your account number would be to give Customer Care a call on 191 from your phone, and after a few security questions they will be able to supply you with this and also set up a PIN.. Would also be worthwhile checking what it is address that Vodafone hold for you
