Proplem When I Turn My New BlackBarry Torch 9810 On

Hi.

I recently got the new BlackBarry Torch 9810 which has the new BB OS 7.

I don't know if it's my handset that is the proplem or the OS but whenever I turn my BlackBarry on from fully off (i.e., powered down using the "Power Off" button), once it comes on, a few seconds later it hards resets itself and has to reboot from there.  Once that's done it's fine, but it happens everytime I turn it on from off.

Has anybody else experienced this with either the new BlackBarry Torch 9810 or OS 7?

I have nothing other than default apps installed on the BlackBarry.

Thank you. :smileyhappy:

Re: Proplem When I Turn My New BlackBarry Torch 9810 On

ok, so first part

@styly, you obviously havent had any experience of OS7, iv not seen an OS7 device take more than 2 mins to boot up, heck even my 9105 on OS5 took under 2 mins (ya, unreal, my 9800 on OS6 is 4mins) so best part of the week it aint.

@myrm, nice to see ya back on here, well not for that reason, but ya get me lol. now the `right` thing for me to suggest, is to reinstall the vodafone OS, and hey, that`d probably work, but as you know from storm days, vf are a tad on the slow side with OS updates, and there are others out there with newer OS builds which are alot faster. of course ya have the whole warranty issue then (cos its not like ya can downgrade eh lol) so id say try the vf OS first, then see how ya go

Hi daveastra :-)

I have to confess, it's not on VF but on 3UK. I have reinstalled the 3UK OS but when I can I will download an enhanced version from CB. What is the latest release?

ah well im not sure on 3`s latest, but vf have .296 and O2 have .353 (one day vf will keep up lol)

as far as `leaks` its not so much a leak, but Wind mobile (think they either american or canadian) have .439, which if its anything like it is on other OS7 devices, its a marked improvement

3UK also use the 296 version. I actually purchased this BlackBarry sim free so it is not locked to any network.  I can, therefore, use any network's version. :smileyhappy:

Re: Proplem When I Turn My New BlackBarry Torch 9810 On

Hi,

Can a Blackberry 9810 owner please verify if it can access the BBC iplayer website and play programs?

Once you are on the iplayer site, it will let you know if the phone is supported or not.

My Torch 9800 supports Iplayer via Wifi only which is fine.

I am thinking of changing networks to Vodafone as my contract with Orange is up and they dont have this phone yet.

Thanks in advance

Just tried it on my BlackBarry 9810 for somebody else a moment ago. I'm out of a WiFi area on 3UK network. It said my handset was not compatible.

hmm, well i just tried on my 9900, and while its `not` the same phone, it actually is, its all the same hardware, simply a diff form factor. basically on mine it`ll only work via wifi. thats on vf network (which could be the difference)

Hi,
I recently purchase my 9810 it doesn't do what you described.
Off is off & On is on, sounds like a quirky fault with your phone!
Have you been on Blackberry Apps and downloaded the latest updates as this may remove this issue?!
