The red cross certainly indicates that the messages cannot be sent and this may be down to the device not being updated or that the message centre number is incorrect.
Please can you ensure you have updated the host routing table,
Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Highlight any of the numbers > press the BlackBerry Button then register
Please can you let me know which device you are using.
The other section to check would be the message centre number and we have a great step by step guide on our Help Centre.

im having the same problem with my blackberry torch, i tried the advanced settings thing but it says 'registration message queued. it will be sent once data coverage is available.' PLEASE HELP
