I recently upgraded to a 9790, but since it's been sunny, I have noticed that I am unable to use my phone in the sun, it constantly scrolls upwards, making it impossible to use outdoors.

Do I have a faulty phone? Or is it an issue with all 9790's??

I'd preferably like a phone that works during the summer!

I think this is normal(ish).

I seem to remember reading (in the BB manual) that the touchpad is actually a small laser source (which, I guess, responds to reflection from finger/thumb) and, as such, can be activated by bright sunlight.

If it's OK indoors there's nothing wrong.

Really?? So I have a phone that can't be used outdoors if it's sunny? Jeesh.

Can someone from vodafone please contact me, as I have only had the phone 6 weeks, and I do not want a phone that I cannot use, thanks.

Thanks for your post. I have seen this before although it is rare that we have seen complaints about screens reacting to bright sunlight.

Which version of the BlackBerry OS are you working on, as it appears that from past experience this is a firmware fault rather than that of the device. If you could let me know I'll check it out for you.

Thank you for your post and the additional information.

After speaking with Simon it has been discovered that this fault occured on an alternative software version and was resolved with the version you are on so this would point to a fault with the device instead.

Please take the device to your local store and one of our experts will be able to take a look and advise you of your best options or alternatively we can arrange a postal repair.
