Re: Sim reader

Hi Rukshana05,

Welcome to the Vodafone eForum from all of the team.

Many thanks for your question here however, I am a little bit confused by what you are referring to.

Do you have a separate SIM card reader that you connect to your PC that is faulty?

If this is the case then we would not be able to cover this under the warranty as it wouldn’t have been provided by us directly.

If  you are referring to the device that holds your SIM in place and connects your SIM to your handset then this would normally be covered under the warranty of the phone however if it has been damaged due to misuse (Physical damage) then this would not be repaired as it is not covered under the warranty of the device.

The best thing that I can suggest would be to send it of for a free of charge repair to be assessed by one of our engineers who will be able to give a definitive answer on this for you and repair the fault if possible.

Re: Sim reader

Hi, well it's my phone, i think the sim reader needs replacing but i don't think it would be covered under warranty because i had a problem with the phone before and it wasn't covered under it.
I was also wondering whether i would be able to get it repaired but pay excess?

Re: Sim reader

Hi Rukshana05,

Many thanks for getting back to me.

As it is the SIM reader in the phone, this wouldn’t be covered under the warranty as it would be classed as physical damage and due to this we wouldn’t be able to repair the fault.

However, if you have insurance on your Vodafone account you would be able to get it repaired or replaced under the insurance as it does cover you for accidental damage and would mean that this could be sorted by paying the insurance excess of £25 by sending it away for an insurance repair.

Re: Sim reader

Thats the thing i don't have insurance so thats the main problem otherwise i would've had it sorted ages ago.
How much would it cost if i just went into the shop and asked them to send it off for repair with me paying excess?

Re: Sim reader

Hi Ruskshana05

The phone would need to be sent away for repair, and if we can fix it, the repair team will need to contact you to let you know how much it would be to fix this.

As this needs to be done I wouldn't be able to get a fee up front as an engineer will need to inspect the handset.

If you can have a look at our repair process page, this should give you all of the information to do this.

Thanks

Martin

Re: Sim reader

Hi
So theres a possible chance they won't be able to fix it?
I just need to know because i don't wanted to pay more than my contract to get it fixed and being a student doesnt help.

Re: Sim reader

Hi Rukshana05

Thanks for your post back to us here.

Our repair centre will definitely be able to replace the SIM tray/reader, it just depends on if this fixes your issue or not.

Thanks
