Switching to a Blackberry mid-contract.

I am currently halfway through my 24-month contract for unlimited texts and 300 minutes on a tocco lite (bad phone, NOT reccommended) and would like to switch to a blackberry. My first thought about doing this was to buy an unlocked blackberry and put my sim card in, which I can do but of course a Blackberry is useless without internet so before I did anything I researched more into it. Apparently I would have to take out a vodafone data plan AND a BIS bolt on. I would not mind doing this but I thought that BIS should have all data plans included. I'm not even sure if I have a data plan and I can use it I would just be charged. So I have 2 questions:

1). Do I need to take out a Data Plan with Vodafone?

2). How would I get around to doing this and how would I be able to get BIS on my new blackberry.

Thanks in advance,

                                Chris

P.S. I'm not sure if this is of relevance but the blackberry I am most likely getting is a BB curve 8520/8530.

You dont need to buy the blackberry add on to use a blackberry but to use it to its full potential then I would recommend adding it to your account as soon as you get a Blackberry.

Its only £5 a month and you can add it to your current sim contract.  It will enable you to receive email, BBM & internet on the Blackberry.

Data plans are seperate to the BIS add on.. You already have a data plan remember.

Once you get the Blackberry Internet Services add on on your account, you can visit https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/html?brand=vodauk and create an account and link it to your Blackberyr PIN.

Thanks for your reply!

sadly, I am still confused. Would I have to buy a data plan on TOP of the BIS if I do not want to get charged the daily charge as I think that is how it is for my contract. Also, would I just ring up vodafone and ask about BIS and Data Plans to add it to my contract?

Re: Switching to a Blackberry mid-contract.

Hope i can clarify...

If you current plan doesn't have Data or BIS add-on then yes you will need both.

If you current plan does have Data add-on then you will jus need to add BIS.

Vodafone do specific Blackberry Plans which might work out cheaper for you so it will be worth while asking them what they have to offer.

You can see there online plans in the Vodafone shop...

http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-price-plans/all-plans

Hope that helps...
