The end of free BIS on Pay-As-You-Go, still get web access?

I have a Curve 8520 on PAYG, not a heavy user and top up £10 or 15 per month with a text and web Freebees. I currently have BIS free until end of June 2011, but dont really use push email or messenger so intending to cancel when it starts to cost me £5 a month.

I just use web access on the browser, which is more than covered by my 500Mb Freebee.

The question is will I still get web access on my browser when I cancel? I had to activate BIS to get the browser to connect on gprs when I got the phone 6 months ago.

Thanks

Gav

You need BIS to provide the access point and without the additon of BIS to your account, you will be unable to access the internet from your Blackberry.

If your do decide to subscribe to BIS, you will be able to find all the information for using Blackberry on PAYG from the website.

Re: The end of free BIS on Pay-As-You-Go, still get web access?

Thanks AnnS. So what you are saying is that I can't even use wap or the browser unless I pay £5 per month?

Surely that cannot be right, with this phone you have got to pay for the internet service + your data usage to look at a web page.

So what is included in the £5 for BIS, does that include your UK web access?

Thanks

Gav

Without the addition of BIS, you will be unable to use any Blackberry services as you have been doing whilst the service was free.  You will also be unable to connect to the internet without the Blackberry access point.

If you had an alternative phone, you would not have any problem using the Vodafone WAP access.

As Blackberry service will no longer be free after the end of the month, if you will to continue having internet access on your phone, you will need to subscribe to BIS.

If you do a Google, you will be able to find what is included in the £5 per month Blackberry subscription which will be for UK internet access, any roaming internet use will be charged extra.

Re: The end of free BIS on Pay-As-You-Go, still get web access?

I have had a different experience with this. I am overseas where I am blocked from using BIS over WiFi by the internet provider here in the UAE. http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/BlackBerry-Devices/Bold-9700-No-BIS-over-wifi-Vodafone-UK/td-p/504041

Essentially I have no BIS service, but I am able to browse the internet using the BB browser. It does not seem to be a service that requires BIS (the way that push email and BBM definately do.)
