Tom,
The software update you refer to in your recent post?!?! Well I have a Torch 9860, well at least I did until I ran the update. The update took ages and since it ran I cannot even switch my phone on! My phone as now been sent away for repair as the helpful chap in the Vodaphone shop believes the update has wiped all the operating system/boot data. He also thinks the update was not legitimate as it appeared as a home screen icon on my phone and he says this is not how Blackberry update software on phones. So in summary its the worst update I've ever had ad thanks to it I am now without a phone and lost whatever data/apps were stored on the phone.
Cheers Blackberry/Vodaphone!
And yes I am thoroughly hacked off!!!!!!

I'm really sorry that that happened to your phone. There's always a small chance with any form of update that it won't go to plan.
I promise you the update was legitimate- it's disappointing that a store would claim that it isn't when this is published on our forum. Can you let me know which store it was so that I can feed this back to them?
Updates for BlackBerry handsets are offered over the air, it's been standard practice for about a year now. I hope you get your handset back really soon

As part of any udate process the original system wil be removed and the new system installed in it's place.
What has most likely happended in your case Darkerzeus is that a few sritial files have become corrupt, hence preventint the handset from booting. As your phone is away for repair it will have the most up to date software installed so when you get it back you will not need top wprry about applying this update.

Judging by the other posts where this update has caused problems and from speaking with other people, I think sombody needs to be seriously taken to task for this. Suffice to say next time I get an update message I will give it the attention in deserves and ignore it! If it ain't broke don't fix it and if it ain't broke then you definately don't break it!!
