Torch BBM, E-Mail and general internet service problems

Hello all,

I've been with Vodafone for 3 or 4 years now, had my Torch for around a year, and up until about a week ago everything was working fine.  Now my Torch continually loses all internet services at different points throughout the day.  My signal is always relatively full EDGE or 3G and BBM will be working fine, then suddenly everything will drop and i'll have clocks on all BBM messages and wont be able to receive e-mails/browse the internet.  After around 5-10 minutes the messages will send but then the same problem will occur 5 minutes later.  I've noticed a few of my calls have also dropped mid-conversation recently despite having full signal.

Please help!!!

Thanks!

Re: Torch BBM, E-Mail and general internet service problems

Hi tvdbha.

This could be down to a whole number of things - or none at all.  A few things to try:

When you notice the problem, turn the Mobile Connection off & on again - does this restore the connection & allow the messages to send?

Try running 2G only for a while - does the problem still occur?

Regular battery pulls.

Check available memory (Device Status) - less than a MB or two can give weird problems.

Do you tend to leave apps running in the background? (This can also give weird problems occasionally.)

Check for latest OS - there might be a corrupted module on the phone which an OS update/reinstall will fix.

Faulty SIM (or just dirty contacts).

Hope this helps.

Re: Torch BBM, E-Mail and general internet service problems

Hi, thanks for responding so quickly paulj! I'll run through what i've done and the results...

Turning the mobile connections on and off wont send the messages that had clocks before, but will allow me to (briefly) send succesful messages, before they too begin to have clocks.

Running only 2G didn't seem to change anything.

Pulling the battery always gives me the same results as turning the mobile connections on and off.

I have 20MB+ of device memory, so seemingly no problem here.

I dont usually tend to have many apps running and always try to ensure nothing unnessacary is running.

I have the latest OS and reinstalled it recently, maybe I should consider downgrading to see if that works?

My moneys on a faulty sim; I took it out today, and when I put it back in I was told I had a simcard error.  When I took it out and put it back in a second time it didn't say this but I am suspicious.  I've had my current SIM for a number of years now....

Any more help/advice on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks

The SIM would be easy to check.  You should be able to get a replacement at a Vodafone shop or one of the mod's might be able to arrange to have a new one sent to you.
