Torch blackberry data unusable when abroad

Hi hope someone here can help.
I have a BB torch and travel a lot for work. I've had a problem for months, and customer services don't seem to be able to help, so this is my last shot before I cancel my contract.
When I'm roaming, I only have working BB data (browser or email) about 5-10% of the time. Regular GSM is fine, calls, texts etc.
When you check the service status, it says disconnected. Receiving emails works a lot of the time (say 80%), but sending only works about 5% of the time.
I have had the same issue in Holland, France, Spain and the US. I suspect it is something to do with the handset, if I connect via Wi-Fi to a Mi-FI with a Voda data sim in it everything works fine, but that isn't always practical and I send up paying extra. I don't have any issues in the UK.
Any ideas?

Hi spark,
Firstly, a very warm welcome to the eForum Family, it's always great to see new faces on here
.
This does sound like a rather unusual issue, it's also quite hard to diagnose without you actually being abroad right now and experiencing the issue.
As this does work some of the time, it rules out there being a problem with your BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) account or any of the associated email addresses. The fact that it works over Wi-Fi too would seem to point to it being a problem with the phone maintaining it's connection over the mobile network, this will most likely be caused by either the SIM card, or the handset itself.
The first thing I'd recommend you do, is to replace the SIM card. You'll be able to pick up a new one free of charge from your Nearest Vodafone Store. If that doesn't resolve the issue then the phone will need to be repaired. It may also be worth backing everything up and performing a factory reset just in case it's a software related issue. Details of how to do this can be found on our Blackberry Torch Help page.
