I've just seen that Vodafone.de have released an updated firmware for the Torch. Will UK Voda be following suit? (it hopefully will fix my battery problem) The released firmware is version 6.0.0.546 (Release 2475 / Platform 6.6.0.207).

Different countries use different bands etc [im actually not sure about European countries]
Anyway VF will be testing the version given to them by RIM to see if their useless software works on it.

The band is set by the phone itself, Any Torch firmware will work as long as you remove the Vendor.XML file.
I am running a firmware for the the US .534 I think off the top of my head (Gave up waiting for Voda to sort their act out).

How are you finding .534? I am wondering whether to try .448 I have heard good things about this one. Battery life is what I need an improvement on.

526 is good, every thing seems to work as it should it is quick too. Just downloaded .546 will give it a go and report back later.

Hi all
As yet, I don't have any information concerning a firmware update for the Blackberry Torch. The latest approved version can be obtained directly from Blackberry on their Software Update Page.
If you haven't read it already, you may find the information on our FAQ section for Firmware.
When a new firmware is available, it will be announced via the normal eForum channels once approved.

Vodafone UK needs to pull it's finger out as the current firmware is atrocious. I've upgrades to .448 and the battery life has been outstanding. Going from losing 10% of my battery every 15 minutes or so, to now with similar usage, I'm on 45% after 2 1/2 days. Very happy with .448 it means I don't have to return my phone. :-)

just finished updating to .546 from VODAFONE de. So far it is good.
I just wish UK voda would pull their collective finger out and do something!!!
Agreed Adamcarts .246 is really appauling when compared to .546 I have no idea why voda are dragging their heels.

Hi Broadsword.
Could you update how you get on with this one please? Especially with regard to battery life. Many thanks.

I have the .246 firmware. How can you get access to an update as my battery life is awful. Phone sitting doing nothing (nothing running) and dropped 15% in 1 hour!

no need to delete vendor.xml anymore if you have a recent desktop manager. Just download the firmware & install to your hard disk, then connect your torch and fire up desktop manager. It will notice that there's a new firmware on your PC and offer to upgrade your torch for you. Takes about 30 mins.
In general if you want to know new stuff about your torch, you are much better off browsing Crackberry than here.

Their testing isnt as slow as you may think though.
American carriers do get things out quicker (isnt that always the case for everything? lol)
I guess they have to add something to show that its their device and not another network ...

I upgraded to the approved firmware.
Now when i switch on I havew to reject Vodafone's startup programmes.
Battery seems to have improved, but although it has worked fine around home, i went into Central London today and it went bananas.
I could not get anything from the internet. I even had 3G displayed at the same time the browser said i had no connection. Several times the phone went into SOS mode.
Pulling the battery woke things up temporarily, butI am seripusly unhappy. I had my phone over 6 months and it is worse now then than when I first got it.
