Unable to set up email with Blackberry Curve 3G (9300)

I've recently been given a new Blackberry Curve 3G (9300) from a family member as their unwanted upgrade, also locked to Vodafone, as it's much better than my previous phone. I'm in the process of setting everything up however cannot set up my email as the only option given is "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server". Firstly, what is an Enterprise server? How would I get hold of a "Enterprise Activation Password"? Or if there's a different was of setting email up how to I go about it?
My Contract priceplan includes 300 mins, + unlimited texts and internet and so presume I should have no problem using it?

Yeah i remember getting some sort of nonsense like that when I got the phone and was going through the intial setup process. The Enterprise Server thingy is for business customers. If memory serves, i just skipped that in the initial setup and then added the mailbox at a later date by selecting it from the "setup" menu. Have you upgraded to OS6 yet. cos the process has been simplified a little. You just swipe down on the home screen to bring up all the icons. then select "setup" which is the the icon with a blackberry logo and a green cog by it. "email accounts" is the first option in that menu.

Actually. Now I think about it, this may have something to do with Blackberry Internet Service. Have you got it set up? Cos it's needed to get your emails sent to your phone. That may have been why it didn't work for me initially. Cos I was a new user and hadn't set it up yet. that might be why it asks about the enterprise server, cos it can't detect a connection to BIS.....

I've seen the Blackberry Internet Service been mentioned before, but no haven't set it up. How do I do that?

Dear fimulley,
You will need the BlackBerry Internet Service package added onto to your contract.
Once this has been done, you will see an alternate option in the email set up.

Satanicbudha is spot on here, basically to enable you to use your personal email account and use the different blackberry functions you do require to have the BIS pack on your account, have you managed to get this sorted yet?
If not simply reply to the email which I have just sent you and I will get one of our team to get this sorted for you.
