Unlocking my phone

I called vodafone 2 weeks prior to leaving to get my phone unlocked to put another sim in whilst I was abroad... I heard nothing. I fill out the the form online to do the unlock and get told my email address can't be matched and my IMEI number isn't registered funny because I got the IMEI number off the phone

I am now abroad and no access to a phone.

Re: Unlocking my phone

Vodafone will only be able to give you an unlock code for an IMEI registered to their network - if the IMEI wasn't entered correctly (either by you or by Vodafone when it was new - it does happen) they will struggle to help.

I have also had a phone (a few years ago & a genuine Orange supplied device) that had a different software IMEI (found by dialling *#06#) to the one printed under the battery.

There are plenty of online unlockers (your favourite search engine will find them) available for a few £s - some cheaper than others - and one or two are free (although you may have to wait a day or two for these.

The unlocking process is quite fiddly (particularly getting to the information that the online unlockers need in order to calculate the unlock codes).

Best of luck.
