The news I received was there was an issue with using BIS over WiFi, but this has now been resolved by RIM. The possible issue with BT Internet is something I'd like to look at in more detail. I have requested this to be looked at by our Blackberry Specialist, and I am awaiting an update to this issue. As soon as I receive any further information concerning this, I'll update the thread accordingly.

Hi Trev.

 

Not according to the BlackBerry Support forum it hasn't.

 

No mention of BTInternet, and it a Europe wide issue, and middle east (??)

 

Many thanks for your input though. Hopefully now that it's a major problem, the first line team will be a little more sympathetic to your paying customers.

Hi Ian

 

It was me that mentioned BT Internet and certainly for me the problem is when I am connected at home to WiFi via BT, but it works fine when I'm connected to WiFi at work on a non-BT internet WiFi connection.

my home network is Zen (not sure who the carrier is though) and I have 4 other wifi networks that I have access, one O2 BB, 2 other which are BT provided (one business, one res) and a sky. none of them currently work reliably.

 

There are also customers in other parts of Europe.... Spain etc.... no service either.

 

The Blackberry support forum is the one to watch.

I have just been on the phone to RIM Customer Services.

 

There is nothing they can do for individual cases , THE CARRIERS NEED TO CONTACT THEM TO PURSUE THE ISSUE.

 

She did raise a ticket to push up through the tech support so they are aware but in the end she siad it is down to the carriers to fix and push the issue through RIM.

 

Vodafone over to you...

I have the same problem connecting to BIS via Wifi but in Spain, so not sure we can pin this on BT.

These problems started a couple days ago after months of perfect wifi emailing and bb msngr. (My browser still works).

Looking forward to a vodafone update soon...

P.S. @iianchir Know what you mean about vodafone customer support. This forum seems to be quite good but i'll never waste my money ringing their helpline again or waste my time sending them emails after the stream of incomprehensible pointless solutions I was given last time I had a simple problem.

Hi all

 

Thanks for the updates concerning this issue.

 

I have forwarded this information back to RIM advising that it looks like the original issue was not fully resolved. This is an issue that is with the BIS servers, so not something that we can resolve ourselves.

 

I will update the thread as soon as any further information is received back.

OK, not wanting to speak too soon, but all appears well for both myself and loads of other BB users around the globe. There is a lesson to be learnt though.... Don't dismiss your paying customers or be quick to blame other suppliers. To the end user, a BlackBerry is bought from one company... The one who the contract is with. If they have an issue, then at least work with that customer until ALL the facts are known. If it's something you as a company can't progress, then you should go to YOUR providers, and interact on the customers behalf. Learn more about the product that you have sold. Communicate. Hopefully this incident is behind us all. Let's learn from it. Thank you
