curve 8900 back not working from repair centre

Hi,
Has anybody had a phone back from the repair centre not working,
Sent the phone back to them, everything worked except the trackerball stuck,
then they said I needed a new LCD and they would charge me £100 ( that old chestnut water damage)
Told them no way , send the phone back , then guess what got the phone back last night and the red light
goes on for 5 seconds then it goes off and thats it.
So the repair centre dismantles a working phone , puts it together and it doesn't work , thats my fault then,
why because I won't pay £100 for so called water damage , the water damage shifted allegedley when they
dismantled the phone, who dismantled the phone me or them?
Been with them 7 years , but think this may be the last.
Also trackerballs been sticking for 5 months but the phone was perfect except for that .
Whos to blame then me for being a vodafone customer or the repair centre, put it into the repair centre about
8 months ago and it came back not attached properly, a 5 mm gap right down the side , could this not caused
the so called water damage, sent it back again , this time it was assembled correctly.
I look forward to your comments.

curve 8900 back not working from repair centre

Hi derek1968,

Unfortunately if a phone has been water-damaged it is usually only a matter of time before the phone stops working, whether it has been dismantled or not. This is why we can no longer honour the warranty for any handsets suffering from liquid ingress - once it is there, there is no garuntee that any repairs we perform on the handset will be successful, as the water damage will still kill the phone at some point later down the line.

I am sorry this happened to you, but we must comply with the terms of the warranty. If you believe your phone is not water damaged, you can send it for repair with an independent phone repair service, and if they determine our assessment to be wrong, and provide a written statement to this affect, then we will reimburse you for the repair costs. Failing that, do you have Vodafone Insurance? I would make a claim here and they can replace your handset for you :)
