Hi jsaunt
JVM 505 relates to an error caused by some 'bad' software code. Any idea what app was being updated before this happened?
If it was a non-core (i.e. a third-party app that isn't required by the OS) app, it might be possible to start the phone in safe mode (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877) and delete the offender ... then reboot & reload the application (hoping that it works second time around).
Most remedies for JVM 505 recommend a reload of the OS using Desktop Manager. Depending on how far your BB will boot before the error occurs, you may lose the data stored.

If not, is it recognised by Desktop Manager when you connect by USB?
