network coverage - Issues in Manchester M28

Drove from Bury BL9 to Oldham OL4 at 4.00pm and had no steady signal for the whole journey... searching for network on and off the whole time. Called Vodafone twice and asked if there was a problem with the network... put on hold twice and forgotten about...... come on vodafone sort yourselfs out customer need to know of their is a problem at least let your telephone operators know with a general email sent to them...

I'm in M60, its been dead most of the afternoon, came back up for less than 15 mins - its blummin annoying but I don't see the point in ringing vodaphone as they never seem to reply in a decent time so the call costs me a fortune on a landline. Whilst I was typing this it came back up for less than 10 secs

Are the problems you are having on 3G or 2G/GSM? If it's 3G try setting your devices to 2G/GSM until the techies have sorted the problem out.

I already tried both and no luck!!

It would be nice to have some sort of update from Vodafone about this!!

The problem shouldn't be affecting both GSM and 3G, it's seems to be covering more area than a single site could cover which indicates that it's something deeper in the network. 2G and 3G run on completely different platforms so the issue should only be causing a problem on on or the other.

I am on 3G - it came back on just after six pm, up to then just no coverage at all - at least seeing this forum stopped me panicing that my phone was broken!!

network coverage - Issues in Manchester M28

Morning Guys

I can confirm you are in an area which is being affected by a 3G network issue, which will be causing problems with your phone.

The engineers are currently working to get this reciftied as soon as possible. We can confirm this is a fault with 3G only so switching the phone to 2G will allow you access to the network while this problem is ongoing.
If you not sure of how to switch off the 3G, then if you go to our Help Centre and select your make and model from our selection, if you then select Network from the list of FAQ's this is will let you know how to switch off the 3G.

Cheers

Nicola

Re: network coverage - Issues in Manchester M28

This has been going on now for at least a month. I run a business with offices in the city centre and we are reliant on being able to receive and make phone calls and send texts to customers when on the move. This situation has become virtually untenable and increasingly infuriating especially when in my line of work a phone call could be worth several thousands of pounds. Texts are being delayed in and out, phone calls are being put straight to voicemail, I can't access the internet etc.

Considering the amount every member of the team spends per month, you would expect a better response than, 'it's being sorted...'. It's clearly not. Why should the profitability of my business suffer because you're not providing the service you're still charging for?

The likelihood of extending our personal and business contracts with Vodafone now is virtualy non-existent.
