"My Vodafone" appearing at start-up on Bold 9700.

Hi
I recently updated the software on my Bold 9700 via the Blackberry Desktop application. Since then the "My Vodafone" app keeps appearing at start-up and whether I click "ok" or "cancel" seems to affect which data I can receive, for example, it's affecting me being able to recieive bbm messages or facebook notifications! The only solution at the moment is for me to perform a software reset (alt+shift+del), but this is a bit of a pain to be honest as I switch my phone off at bedtime, meaning every morning when I switch it back on I have to do a software reset! I have seen a similar thread on here in relation to a Torch, but the solutions involves software for that specifically, so I was hoping someone would have a solution for the Bold. Many thanks in advance!

Hi there PrettyP0isoned,
Many thanks for your post regarding MyVodafone popping up when you start up your 9700.
I believe you are referring to this thread where you've seen an unofficial work-around?
I've checked out known issues log and it doesn't appear this kind of issue has been reported for this particular handset. Would it be possible for you to factory reset the device and then try reloading the software again? Details of how to factory reset the device can be found at our Bold 9700 Help Centre under 'miscellaneous'.
Let me know how you get on.
Cheers,
Lee

Hi - had the same problem with my Torch - I updated software recently too. I reverted back to the previous software update thru Blackberry Desktop Software and that seems to have done the trick - hopefully it works for you. Looks as though there is a bug in the latest update.

Sorry, I wasn't sent an email notifying me that a reply to my thread had happened, so only just noticed this. What information etc would I lose doing a factory reset? I'm still getting the my vodafone appearing at start up!

Thanks might do that instead of the factory reset, I'm taking it that I can revert using the blackberry desktop software?

Also, is there a way to delete the My Vodafone app? Why is it needed and will it affect anything if it can be deleted?

Hi PrettyP0isoned,
I am surprised that the factor reset didn't fix this. Did it start happening again straight after the reset, or did you have to restore anything to the handset first.
To answer your question, My Vodafone is designed to enable you to monitor your usage, price plan and subscriptions, as well as information on your billing, many of the common reasons for people contacting us and a convenient alternative to using My Account on the move.
I'm sure we can get to the bottom of this for you.

Unfortunately, when I did the master reset the only way for me to get my contacts and calendar appointments back was to plug the phone in to my laptop and use the desktop software, which immediately restored my phone back to the faulty version of OS6. I decided therefore that since a master reset clearly wasn't the longterm solution for this problem, to keep my phone the way it was as the cons of reverting outweighed the pros, however it is still an extremely irritating problem! In my opinion, the only way to solve this, without me downloading the newest version of OS6 from another website, is for Vodafone UK to be kind enough to allow customers to download it, I really do not understand why this is such a problem? Also, customers should be able to decide for themselves whether they want the MyVodafone app or not and not have it forced upon them, considering I have accidentally used it for nearest stores and was charged for it! So, when will the newest OS6 version be availble to the UK Vodafone customers?

Just to say there was an update available for blackberry device software which I installed and this solved the problem, like I mentioned before, I knew this was the only viable solution to my problem, just so glad it's solved (for now!) ![]()
