Ok. Hope you people don't mind but I'm running a competition. Who has used the most data in a 24 hour period?? No tethering allowed. The winner gets something...not sure yet. My record is 243MB.

Are you counting just mobile data or total data used in a day?

For me:

• Mobile data: 70.68Mb
• Total Data: 726.42Mb

I assume this is something to do with your data charges using your Blackberry whilst you were roaming in China and is a roundabout way of finding out whether or not it is possible to use that amount of data in a 24 hour period.

Blew through 1.5Gby in an hour this morning over wi-fi updating the maps on my N8, do I win

Sorry Synth. Wifi does not count. 1.5GB in a hour over 3G would have been impressive (probably more likely 4 give a fair signal)

Unfortunatly not, 

Nokia appear to have pushed out updated maps for most of europe, and as buisness ocasionally takes me across the channel I keep the likes of France, Holland, Germany on the phone along with the UK

Would have been an interesting abet expensive experiment to see how long it would have taken over 3G (tho I think using my sure signal would have been cheeting)

Given the volume of data, II did use a data counter app to make damn sure it was comming in over the Wi-Fi

Funny you say about using a data counter. Yesterday, I turned on the hotspot facility which switches off wifi and forgot to re-enable. Later I was updating some apps and thought "why so slow?"

Yup. Forgot to switch wifi back on!
