O2 giving out your phone number

Just seen this on engadget

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/25/o2-data-breach/

Firstly

On a more serious note i'm interested to hear if anybody running a Vodafone handset sees their number show up.

You can run the test by navigating to http://lew.io/headers.php on your mobile.

When i run it on mine it isnt showing any mobile number, just the handset model (which is normal). Im using a debranded handset so just wondering if that made a difference.

Re: O2 giving out your phone number

This is a General Dig at networks

Some Networks have lost there way, concentrating on PR and profit

This has shown up a major problem with a Network

They did move fast to sort this out but the way they did that looked a bit of a mad panic

This should up One they don't make Firmware its contracted out

There Aerials (Masts) are run by a Private firm

The only thing they Looked after was there  servers and that was the thing that was causing the problem

O2 was big when they took over BT Cellnet now 3G did the damage to them as they were late in the game

Now the leak was pointed out by customers, But yet again it was egnored until it was put on the net, Faced with bad PR and a Major back lass they then took a look at it
