K3570-Z installation

I have bought the K3570-Z USB Stick.

I have tried installing it but the software get so far then rolls back.
The point of roll-back is when it is installing and starting services ( which services i don't know) then it performs the roll back.
I have tried copying the relevant software to the desktop, but no success and I have tried installing in administrative mode but still no success. Is there something wrong with the device or do you think that something on my laptop is stopping it. I have tried disabling the firewall and anti-virus, but nothing seems to work.
I have looked in device manager and cannot see any reference to Vodafone, though when plugged in the system makes a noise and also when unplugging. though nothing appears at the bottom. The laptop recognises the device as another hard drive. It also tries to install when it has been connect.
I am aware that this will be a vista problem - has anybody else encountered this before or with anything else that may throw some light on the matter.
I am at a loss, so any thoughts would be most appreciated.

Regards - Tony

Hi TonyT1967

Welcome to the eForum :D it is always good to see new faces on here.

This is normally a confliction issue with windows, as you quite rightly mention. It looks like you have covered many things here, so thanks for that.

I would now recommend doing a "Clean Boot" so you can load everything up individually so you can see where conflict lies. To do this for Windows Vista:

1. Click Start Menu, and type msconfig in the search bar.
2. Hit return (or double left click) on returned Msconfig file to launch System Configuration utility.
The System Configuration Utility appears.
3. Ensure the General tab is selected.
4. Click on Selective Startup and make sure that "Load System Services" is the only item checked.
(You will be unable to unselect "Use Original BOOT.INI." This is OK).
5. Click the Services tab.
6. Select Hide all Microsoft Services.
Warning Do not skip this step. You must hide the Microsoft Services before you go on to step 7.
7. Clear all the services that are still displayed on the Services tab by selecting “Disable All”.
8. Click Apply > OK.
9. Click Restart.

If error is cleared then indicates a conflict with another service or application running on the machine. This will require enabling each service/application one by one and retesting to find the service/application at fault.
Note: When you have completed your troubleshooting, follow the steps in the next section to configure Windows to perform a Normal startup

To Reverse Clean Boot:
Restore your computer to its original settings
1. Rerun MSConfig utility as detailed above
2. On the general tab click Normal Startup.
3. Click OK.
4. Click Restart.

Please let us know how you get on with the above.

Hi Martin,

Thank you for your suggestions and I did what you said and took quite some time, but it is still the same.

Like I said it goes through the setup procedure but when it tries to install services and tries to start it then performs a rollback..

Just to note the laptop does not recognise it as a dongle, only as a cd drive. I have tried it on another laptop and it seems to work ( strange).

when i plug it in nothing gets put into Device manager. Device manager refreshes when it is inserted and the laptop makes a sound but nothing comes up to say installing new hardware.

If i insert a different usb device, the system says - new hardware found.

So something is stopping it but what - i don't know.

Any more suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks - Anthony

Hi TonyT1967

I'll be honest here I'm no expert with dongles . I have however got a colleague to take a glance at this post and he thinks that this appears to be a Windows issue, and would recommend contacting an I.T specialist for support.
