Mobile WiFi not available?

I live in Los Angeles and I am coming back to the UK for a month. My ideal solution is to use a Mobile Broadband R216 for 4G rather than get a sim card and have a UK number.

 

Why are they all out of stock? I looked at 02 and they aren't availble for 6 weeks! Why the shortage?

 

I'm hoping someone from Vodafone is on these forums and can answer this question.

I assume it's down to stock availability online and in the HighStreet stores to how popular a device is.

You could check where your most local shop is via http://m.vodafone.co.uk/mobile/store_finder/index.htm and ring ahead to check in stock availability.
