Hi mozza33

Firstly, welcome to the eForum. Thanks for joining. As you're new make sure to visit the Vodafone Help Centre. It's something we use here and I always recommend it to new members as it's full of instant hints and tips on most Vodafone products and services.

The best way to get this working will be to fully uninstall and reinstall the Vodafone Software. You mentioned you reinstalled the device a few times but there are a few extra steps which will help further.

1 - Go to Start - Control Panel - Programs - Remove the Vodafone Mobile Connect software.

2 - Reboot and go back to - Control Panel - Programs - and check that there are no further instances of the Vodafone software in there (including Vodafone Mobile Connect, VMC, VMC Lite, Vodafone Runtime components etc)

3 - Go back to Control Panel and click on Phones and modems. (If you can't see it, make sure you're in classic view in Control Panel) Click on the modems tab and remove and remove any entries of HUAWEI modems in there (unless you have another that you use)

4 - Go to Start - Connect To. In here right click and delete any Vodafone dial up connections.

5 - Reboot and wait for a few minutes. Now plug in the modem. If it doesn't start automatically after a minute or so, go to Start - Computer - Right click on the modem and click Autorun.

I'm sure this will get you up and running, but we're here if you need any more help. :)

Cheers

Hi Jay_Vodafone as I previosly stated I've tried removing and reinstalling the vodafhone lite software previously but with some scepticism I've followed your instructions.
removing and reinstalling the program the connection and the modem then reinstalling from the device

but still got the same message when I try to connect the device has a green light which flashes every 3 seconds and the vodafone mobile connect lite software shows 4 bars (gprs) signal

please help
Thanks

Hi mozza33,

I think it might be time to send the modem for repair! If you've tried it on another machine with the same results, I think it's safe to say something must be wrong hardware wise.

Let us know how you get on :)

Hi Jon , Thanks for your help after I checked some driver settings on my XP machine I managed to get the device to work run on my PC so I'm prettey sure it's not the device thats at fault however when running it on vista Home edition I still continue to get the same error message RAS error 720, I've read the other forum post suggested by wayne earlier and a few other posts on this forum where people seam to be having the same problem and in most cases it seams theres an issue between Windows Vista and the Vodaphone LITE software , Is there a later version of the software available?

I hope you can help the device was working without a problem it suddenly started producing this message I've even re installed the OS on my machine to see if there was some sort of microsoft update that may have been causing the problem but I continue to get the same error message.

Please Help me

Thanks

There Is a full version of the vodafone software that you can download from the business centre I tried to get the link for you but I could'nt get one to work, maybe one of the mods will put It on for you.Once this version Is downloaded It runs this version Instead of the lite version.Worth a go maybe.

Hi Adam

Can you shed some light as to what you did to your driver settings as I am getting the same error code 720. My details are;

Laptop Toshiba Satellite A100
Operating System Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Vodafone Mobile Connect Model K3520

Appreciate any help on this as I have spent the last 2 days on the phone and all they seem to advise is uninstal and reinstal which has not worked.

The Error 720 is quite a rare but annoying bug with Windows that we've had great difficulty resolving in the past.

You may have success from uninstalling and re-installing the LAN and Wireless Adapters in Device Manager, and then giving the dial-up connection for Vodafone two or three attempts ot re-bind the TCP/IP stack.

If this doesn't work, there is a tool available on the web called RAREPAIR.EXE which will automatically attempt to uninstall and restore all networking components on your system, rebuilding the entire set of networking services on the PC.

Beyond this, I'm afraid we can only recommend to contact a Microsoft Specialist for further assistance :(
