Wi-Fi Question R207 device

I was asked by a friend to "sort out" a new R207 Wi FI device as it would not connect to the internet. It was purchased two weeks ago with 1 Gb of data pre loaded. The device works perfectly and connects to the network but will not allow internet access. I can connect to the Vodafone pages via the 192.168.0.1 address and it shows the number as "SIM NUMBER". Surely there must be a "phone type" number somewhere. I Have searched all the papers that came with the device and the SIM itself but cannot see any number.

Do we have to "do anything" to get the internet working as the user guide says it can be used from the box !!.

Also how do you top up if there is no number.

Sorry but at a loss and impossible to connect to Vod sevices by landline !!
