Deleting account

Seeing as I'm finally, blissfully, at the end of my terrible Vodafone contract, I no longer wish to have an account here either.

I've looked around a bit and can't see how to delete my forum account.

thanks.

Re: Deleting account

Hi johnnytruant,

We can remove all of your personal details from your forum account, thus making it inaccessible to you or anyone else. Can you just confirm that you're ok with me doing this?

Thanks

Andy

Re: Deleting account

Not really.

I want to actually delete my account, not just zero it.

Most forum software allows for accounts to be deleted.  I just wish to access that feature.  I may wish to destroy all posts I've made as well, just for the hell of it.

Re: Deleting account

Hi johnnytruant,

My apologies, I should have stated first off that the forum software we use doesn't allow for accounts to be deleted. The only option we have is the one I mentioned above.

Thanks

Andy

Re: Deleting account

While I'm not overly surprised - after all, "Vodafone" is a fine synonym for "massively incompetent" - why on earth did you specify that as a feature?  Someone made that decision.  And that person is an idiot.

I want all my posts, all my pms, everything to do with my account - including the username in the increasingly unlikely event that I come back to VF and want to re-join - removed.  Can you do that?  Don't do it yet, just answer the question.  If the answer is no, please explain in detail why not, and what process led to that state of affairs.

It's hardly rocket science.  Just get a grown-up to do a "DELETE * FROM * WHERE userid=98500" for you, adjusting for your flavour of database, obviously.

Re: Deleting account

Hi johnnytruant,

Customers deleting their accounts wasn't the first thing on our mind when picking forum software, sorry.

We can remove everything so that you'll be as good as deleted as Andy explained. We can move your posts offline and delete them but I'd ideally like to avoid that as it can cause gaps in conversations.

Please just let us know what you want us to do. Sorry to see you're going, by the way.
