I know this isn't a vodafone problem (at least I don't think it is!) but I hope someone can help anyway/
I decided to give HTC sense a try today as I've heard lots about it but never used it. So I went on the website and registered. Then I went through the steps on the phone as I was told.
However when I go into Sense it says phone finder is not enabled (which it its) and nothing appears as below. Tried disabling and re-enabling phone finder. The ring function doesn't work either
Any ideas?

SNAP!!! Hasn't been working for me either!!
However on the weekend deleted my htcsense.com account, signed up again, but from the phone this time, then verified and used my gmail email address, then made sure I synced the account by going to - Settings> Accounts and Sync> HTC Sense> Sync Now.
Then logged into htcsense.com, and hey presto it worked, the location said I was in the middle of the ocean, but clicked update location, noticed my phones GPS activated itself, and then it update on the map! And the Ring Phone worked too!!!
Today logged in, and its not working! I'm still missing all the contacts and messages etc from htcsense.com too. But I've read that they have been resticting new users.
It seems a bit hit and miss at the moment, but it'll be a good gimmic once it works properly.

Hi guys,
As the HTC Sense site is controlled by HTC, not Vodafone, we don't have any input into this, so we cannot offer specific support. You'd need to contact HTC for that.
That said, on top of offroadermike's suggestion there, I can pass on some suggestions I have seen online from other people reporting the issue.
The main one I have seen is, once you've recreated the account, to ensure that you register your number using the full international prefix, so a number starting 07123 should be entered +447123.
Others stress filling in all stages of the initial set-up and not skipping anything.
I'm sure that between support from HTC and comparing set-ups with others you'll get to the bottom of this.

Lots of people have been having issues with it.
Phone finder worked ONCE for me, and said I was in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Africa, and wouldn't update no matter how many times I clicked refresh / turned GPS / Wifi on and so on.
Phone ring worked a couple of times but now doesn't.
Phone lock SAYS its locked, yet it still works fine? Some use that is.
There's been lots of topics on here, and there's a big one on the HTC forums too where some dude contacted them a load of times asking about it, the response he got was "Its still in beta and should be working by the end of the month".
I think HTC marketing have misunderstood development lifecycles here a bit, "Beta" testing is the stage where you have a GROUP of end-users test your almost-finished product to weed out bugs and so on, not when you advertise and distribute it to ALL your customers as a working product, when its clearly not.

Interesting.
My UI looks just like in the screenshot in the OP, rather than the one with all the extra buttons for texts and contacts and so on in the article, and still does. (/giggle at the article screeny also saying the phone is in the middle of the ocean off the coast of Africa, exactly as mine does).
At least the article says it should work even if the SIM is changed, (be a bit daft if not) but I'd thought it may be possible since it seems to be heavily linked to your number. Seems if you want to lock it though you'll haveto quickly flip the 3g on and screen lock it as you're being mugged, heh.
Happy beta testing, customers! ![]()
I'd say it went something like this:
HTC Execs: "Release Nao!"
Developers: "Shtop, this functionality is not ready yet!"
HTC Execs: "We don't care and we want to advertise, release the beta!"
Developers: "*Sigh."

Update:
Well **** me, its actually working. Had a right job on trying to get logged in today (login failed, blabla) but now I have, I switched wireless and GPS on to play with googlemaps a bit, and its actually pinpointed me right over my house! The ringing and lock phone is working too, whoa. The interface is still the basic one though, as in without contacts and everything, and I'm not sure how long it will stay working for heh.
Unfortunately though I don't have a set list of things I did to make it work, I was just playing around with wifi / GPS / autosync on and syncing my mail and so on, with multiple logins / logouts to the HTC sense site. After a few times I realised phone finder had now actually pinpointed my location correctly, (rather than being in Africa) so I tried the other features.
Didn't specifically delete / create any accounts or data though, so all I can say is have a play with wireless, gps and autosync on, and logout / in to ya HTC Sense account now and then. Make sure your number on HTC sense account is in the +44790xxxxxx format.
Phone ringing took a min or so to come through, they're quite slow today. Phone lock took about 10 minutes heh, ah well at least it DOES actually work, they just need to make it faster and more reliable.

Update 2: (Why the hell don't they let you edit posts for a longer period on here?)
Ok so I've tested a bit and it seems the "Ring mah phone" option only seems to work with Wireless / 3g on, else it says can't connect....
So thats every single one of the features on there that ONLY works if you have net already on. So if you lose your phone or get mugged, better hope yer wireless / mobile internet is already on!
Of course we'll always have that enabled 100% of the time, because mobile operators are nice and lenient with data charges, and our batteries can obviously handle it!!!
...... :/

ive been using lookout, the basic free version has contacts backup, phone locator and the ability to ring it if you can't find it, so far i have found it to be very useful especially when I put my phone down and can't find it LOL
edit: just checked sense and it seams to be spot on cant work out ware my backup contacts are tho

Does that work without wireless on though?
As I've just checked Sense.com again, and although its stil showing my proper location (though "as of Unknown"), it still refuses to even ring my phone unless wireless is on, wheras as soon as I switch it on, it works fine.
So like I said it seems a fantastic concept, but stupidly flawed in execution.
So just remember, if you're planning to lose your phone or get mugged, turn wireless / mobile data on first! ![]()

If you look on the offical HTC forums there is a post about HTCSense. Apparently the service is not fully operating at the moment as HTC are working on more features for the serivce and therefore some features MAY work! The post was dated yesterday so I guess we'll have to wait a little longer for it to be 100% working,
