Hi Guy

Just got Desire HD for vodafone and it came with that vodafone 360 on it ( Which I don't want).

Phone not bad but sound quality on ear piece not very loud even when turn right up , if this normal?

I have to use a blue tooth headset alot and have always used voice tags to dial a number from the blue tooth headset to the phone using the main button on the headset to start the the whole thing off > i was talk and have read that bluetooth dialing was on the new android 2.2 but its not there. any ideas or a go app to over come the problem

There seem to be a general compliant about the sound levels on DHD going around the main Android forum at present, and has anyone used any of the bluetooth apps out there.

I can not seem to get any sense out of VFCC and to whether or not the inbuild voice search is suppose to work either with BT or not, to dial a call.  VFCC even sent me into their  main in Norwich for help, Well that was a complete waste of time and money, as they were in worse.

Looks like this phone is going back !

Welcome to the eForum .

Are you sure that you've got the call volume turned up to the maximum? You can do this by pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down keys during an active call.

I can imagine it must be rather annoying not being able to use your Bluetooth headset. I've checked and the 2.2 update does support voice dialing over Bluetooth, so the only thing that I can think of is the Bluetooth headset that you're using isn't compatible .

I'm sure our users will be happy to recommend any apps available .

The volume has seem to increase on it own some how, and yes I do know about the volume controls.

If you can recommend a bluetooth headset what will work with the phone even a vodafone version then I will buy it, and I know that the spec on android 2.2 states that it will support voice dialing over BT ( this is what I have ben waiting for) so where is it , or have vodafone removed the app? or has it been completely removed from android 2.2, can you advise

In-call volume on the DesireHD is a bit low and there's no real way of boosting this without root access (which will void your warranty). Going back to BT Voice dialling, have you tried holding down the Search Button and then issuing commands? Like...

"Call Joe Bloggs"

Obviously change the name to the contact you wish you call. You can even extend it like this...

<command> <contact> <number type>

For example...

Call Joe Bloggs Home

Which will call Joe Bloggs on his Home number. Usually the last command isn't required as it will dial the primary number you have assigned.

I've just tried it and it works like a charm.

There might be an app that maps the button on your BT headset to the Search button which would make sense as you can do so much with voice commands. Even use it to search locations and open up Google Maps automatically or to get directions instantly.

Yes the voice search works on the phone but it go to a google searchand stright to the internet  even when the magic work "CALL" is used., but this is still means that you have to touch the phone which I can not do whilst driving, and can not start from the BT headset.

Shame VFCC did not come back with anymore help

How odd, as I've just tried the command "Call Home" and it dialled right away...

I've not tried mapping the BT button to the Search button on the phone as of yet as I don't really use my BT headset much at all... I'll get it charged though and shall see what can be done. What headset do you have?

Just find an old thread on a similar problem,about voice dialing, and it suggested checking the settings onthe search menu, and checking the people section, have just do that and about to go and check it.but still no mention of BT control command

Do you have Google Voice installed as well? I forgot that I have and there is an update for it as well. Might be worth installing it and indeed checking your settings to see if it covers all bases but it should work as advertised. I can't find my BT Headset cable to charge my headset so might pinch my Dad's just to do a test for true hands-free dialling.

Right gone into the voice search settings and un checked allitem to search except people and call history, and goole voice still can not find the voice dial and brings up a list of possible items to select and then lauches  a google search,

 Am starting to loose the plot with it

There's an app on Market (or Appbrain) called Choice dialer (sic) There's a free and a paid version - only $5.00 thet does the trick quite well.

No need to pay for an app when its already built in for free ^_^

Install Voice Search (I got it mixed up with Google Voice). Once installed go to your homescreen...

Settings > Search > Searchable Items > Voice Search (tick), People (tick)

Press Home to go back to your Homescreens and hold down the Search button and click on Voice Search if multiple items appear. You can then press on Help to learn more about the voice commands or simply try again with the command "Call" and then the contact's name.

Sorry Neo, but where will I find voice search, is it  already in the phone or ido I have to download it from the android market? though it might also be idea to download the other app tha tthe other gent suggested ( sorry forgor your name.)

Yeah sorry Aqua, its in the Android Market. Fire up the Market, click on Search then type in "Voice Search". Do the steps I mentioned in the previous post and give it a go. It definitely works for me. Still trying to find my BT charger cable for my headset but once I do I'll look into mapping the BT headset "call" button to the Search button.

sorry for delay in getting back and Thank you Miket99 for the  app Choice dialer, Have downloaded the free version as a trial and it does seem to do want I want it to do with room for improvement thoug.

Neoblade I still think that I try your idea as well ,

All I need to do is find out to get the main large HTC clock display back on the main home screen which I have somehow lost

Sorry for reviving an older thread, but I'm thinking about buying a HTC Desire HD, but only today I found out about the issue with voice dialing over BT Headset. That would definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Neoblade, could you please tell me if were/are you able to make a call with voice dialing on the HTC Desire HD and if you were able to map the BT Headset button on the DHD in order to use the Headset button to active voice dialing? Your experience would mean a lot to me.
