HTC Desire HD does not sync with HTC Sense

 I got my new HTC Desire HD on 25 October 2010. I set up my phone according to the instructions - I created an HTC Sense.com user id and password and switched on the Phone Finder in Locations.

I then logged on to HTC Sense.com on my PC and went into Phone finder and it says Phone Finder is not switched on.

According to the user guide I should be able to edit my contacts in "People" tab of htcsense.com. When I go there, it says "You do not have any contacts"

I have done the following on an almost daily basis

. Log off and log on repeatedly, power off and restart the phone. switch the phone finder in locations off and on again.

I even on two occasions deleted my HTC Sense account and recreated it, and carried out the set up from scratch.

On two occasions I deleted all my contacts on the phone and recreated them using the transfer data facility from my previous phone.

Till date I am not able to log into HTC Sense on the pc and view my phone details or contacts. I have already received two FOTA updates and applied them, I feel this is disappointing given that this was touted as one of the big killer features of this phone over competitors.

I have posted this in the forum earlier, but it seems to have got mixed up with HTC Desire issues, so I am starting a new thread for this.

Hi picadillyjim,

 

The HTCsense.com website and service are developed by HTC themselves, and as such are nothing to do with us - our equivalent is the Vodafone 360 service.

 

With any service starting out, there may be some teething troubles, but I would suggest contacting HTC directly for assistance - you may even help them in clearing a bug from the system in the process.

 

I wish i could help more, but this service is not something we have any control over.

Hi Dave, Thanks for the response, and I am ready to accept that Vodafone is not the owner of the service,

 

I guess I am hoping that some members of this forum may have something to suggest, which does not involve rooting the phone.

Personally I would skip HTCSense for dealing with your contacts and use Google's service instead. Have you got a GoogleMail account linked to your phone? If so, make sure that you have enabled contact syncing on the phone...

 

Settings > Account & Sync > Background Data (tick), Auto Sync (tick). Click on your main GMail account > Sync Contacts (tick).

 

Then click on Sync Now.

 

You can then log into your GMail account on your computer, click on Contacts on the left hand side and all of your contacts should appear for you to mass edit.

 

Have you installed the 400+MB maps for the Locations app on the phone? If not, load up Locations on your Desire and download the maps. Once installed make sure Phone Finder is enabled again on your phone and reboot. Once its back on log into your HTCSense account and try it again.

for the record when i sign into htcsense.com, i have no tabs (people etc) across the top of the page - I just get page with phone location pic etc!

I too cant get it working, missing the tabs, and just not working!

 

My mate on 3 has a unbranded DHD and it works for him. Vodafone branding I reckon, lol, although looking around on various forums, its been said that HTC have been restricting the service to new users.

 

Interested in knowing if any one else has this working properly with a voda branded handset, or any unbranded handsets not working?
