Must admit - mine is much, much slower to GPS lock since the 2.2 update but it does get there eventually.

Strange that, I'm on 2.2 and it seems to be working OK. Loving the "speak destination" tool. Great if I had a car. Lol

HTC Desire - I Don't Get A GPS Lock Since 2.2 Update

Do you mean the recent update that isn't actually 2.2, but has the 360 apps included?

If so try the automatic task killer application and kill the 360 people and 360 updater service, it may be that the processor load it causes makes the GPS unable to get enough CPU cycles to do anything useful.

Hi CaRDiak,

We have not yet released 2.2 for the HTC Desire on Vodafone, so I'm afraid we're unable to assist with this query. I would recommend either contacting HTC Support directly, or contacting the original point of sale for further assistance.

Hi I got the OTA update on the 23 /8 /10 and since the update I cannot get the GPS to lock or work at all with google maps or navigation. Just says "waiting for satellites"

Two month old branded locked desire.

Already tried factory reset, switching off taking battery out, switching on. using outside for 30 mins with gps switched on.

baseband 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
kernel 2.6.32.15-g6a358a9
htc-kernel@and18-2 #1
build 2.10.161.2 CL229389

Any ideas how to get this working? everything else working fine with the phone.

Anyone know how to fix?

HTC Desire - I Don't Get A GPS Lock Since 2.2 Update

Same here, it seems I cannot connect to the satellites. When I use the Navigation or the Google Maps applications, for instance, I get "Waiting for location" or "Searching for GPS..." or "Your current location is currently unavailable" messages.

Is there anyway to fix this? It's really bad not to be able to use the GPS.

P.S.: I noticed this issue before I updated to Froyo...

UPDATE
HAve contacted Voda support - they don't know a fix. Advised that it was an HTC issue (even though it's a branded software update rolled out over the voda network onto a voda branded phone...........)
Contacted HTC - no know cure..... sent in for warranty repair. Having read other forums, look like they usually replace the mainboard which seems a little extreme when it was a software upgrade which cased the problem....

Anyway. I'll report back when (hopefully) HTC come back to me with a repaired desire!!

HTC Desire - I Don't Get A GPS Lock Since 2.2 Update

Heya Guys,

So we can look into this further please can anyone having this issue verify exactly what firmware they are running?

Once we have this information I can then raise it to our devices team for investigation if you are running vodafone approved software. (latest version 2.2)

HTC Desire - I Don't Get A GPS Lock Since 2.2 Update

Tried again with mine yesterday - left it sat on the dash for a good 10 minutes before setting off. It eventually got a lock and worked.

Maybe it's not a case of not working, but not working as efficiently as it used to? In which case that'd surely point to a software issue not hardware.

Hi Huwd,

That's interesting - it also makes me wonder if it may be application-specific - as if it's prioritising mobile service location above GPS for some reason.

Can you tell me which application you're using to try and get a GPS lock?
