Hi,
there's been quite a few reports over the Internet about Desire Z users getting the Gingerbread update for their phones (here's one of many: http://www.coolsmartphone.com/2011/07/22/htc-desir
Is there anything I can do to make it happen for me?
Thanks.

Well I just got it about an hour ago. Update appeared to have worked thoguh I've not tried texting or GPS yet. One thing though, it does seem to be some what heavier with memory usage

Ok I strongly advise that you do NOT go for the upgrade. My phone now works like a dog and I'm going to have to place fault calls with Vodafone and HTC to see if I can get the upgrae backed out with out aq complete rebuild

Can't edit above so update.
From XDA Forums there's suggestions there's issues from teh HTC side as other telco official rleases of 2.3.3 seem to have the same isses. One suggestion is a hard reboot - I've tried this and so far the phoen seems to be fine again though memory usage is still low.
For a hard reboot for those unsure, if you have your phone set for quick boot (hybernate) then shut the phoen down, remove the battery for ~30 seconds, put back in and boot up.
