Eddy OS says that it's not Vodafone - yet 99% of the complaints I have seen have related to Vodafone.

Eddy - can you substantiate you statement that it's not Vodafone?

The Spanish Vodafone page has a lot of complaints about the same issue.

I suspect Eddy OS is referring to:  http://androidforums.com/htc-desire-hd/374096-2-50-405-2-update-2.html#post3034166 which I also subscribe to.  I think at best cutting through the dross and confusion it's ambiguous.  IMO Vodafone do seem to be the main if not only culprit.

It could even be conceivable that only Vodafone customer USE the GPS???

Joking aside, XDA has a lot of people saying since the update their GPS has gone wonky. HTC will get it fixed eventually so have patience, it's not the end of the world!!

It appears looking at other posts on other forums that there has been other side issues to the latest update. I know its not the end of the world not having a working GPS but I think its the time its taking to fix this problem that customers are fed up about.

@EddyOS. How's the rooted experience on the Sensation then now you've got S-off etc?

It's awesome, not done a great deal but at least I can run my own ROM with apps removed that I don't use

Yeah its not, but I do use it a lot. For jogging apps, navigation and places app. Kinda awesome tools till you can no longer use them! Im still off, had the MMS messaging messed over too. Someone got in touch about that a while back but no news yet

Google has approved the updated software and HTC has indicated that roll out will start in the next 24-48 hours. We will confirm once we've heard that the roll out has begun, but please feel free to tell us if you receive yours in the meantime.

Thanks to all involved in pushing for this fix. 

I've installed it this morning and GPS is functional again.  Phew!

(I remain very disappointed that faulty software was provided, that HTC's own support people were ignorant of the problem, and that it took so long for what must be an elementary fix)

Updated this morning, GPS now working Thanks Vodafone for getting this resolved, hopefully no bugs have crept in on anything else......

Hi,

I have bought a HTC Desire HD SIM free and I am now using a Vodafone pay-as-you-go sim.

I am running 2.50.405.2 and GPS doesn't work for me.

Please can you help me? I don't know how to download the upgrade.

I went to About Phone - Software Updates but it doesn't find anything.

Is this patch available only for Vodafone customers with contracts? How can other people using Desire HD (with vodafone pay&go or other operators) get this patch as well?

Upgraded today, GPS now working!

Next time, please test key features before rolling out an update!! Add GPS functionality to your regression test pack!

To the comment above, HTC tend not to roll out the change to everyone, as the load on their servers is too much. They'll do it a group at a time.

GPS works fine and Wifi is still all good. Have not noticed any bugs yet at all. In fact - a few extra skins seemed to sneak there way in, Safari HD and some Tron style one, the former looks nice!

For anyone who also has the MMS issues, that is still a problem but apparently that is also coming in an update, think once that's fixed and all is good I will just ignore new updates.

Sorry Vodafone and thanks for the help, but I am switching asap

Although I never had any of the GPS problems with the previous update (I wonder what the difference between my stock Vodafone HD and the ones that failed is?), I took the plunge and installed the latest tonight. All went well and it all seems to be running smoothly....still no GPS or WiFi problems....all very strange.
