Phone Frozen

I have a HTC Desire Z, with latest android firmware (2.3 i think) I tried updating Angry Birds Rio, my phone froze during downloading. so i took the battery out. Now it stays on the HTC splash screen. Any help? and i have already tried a factory reset.

Re: Phone Frozen

Had this problem a couple of months ago. I had to hard reset it (clear storage).

Re: Phone Frozen

Just got my phone back, or what i thought was mine. Turns out because it would take longer to fix my phone they have sent me a "refurbished" phone. Got home put my SIM card in turned it on, says phone needs charging so i plug the charger in. The LED now blinks green and orange repeatedly, refuses to charge and rarely turns on now All i can say is well done Vodafone

I've just returned mine for repair after this problem too. First time it froze, I had to hard reset and it seemed to fix it...until it froze the enxt day, hung at the HTC logo then died completely!

I've heard it's a definite hardware problem, where the eMMC chip (the chip that holds the Android software) gets fried (not sure how or why) hence the freeze on the logo, or in my case complete death of the phone.

Mine's in for repair, if I get a refurb of the above standard myself, I will not be pleased.

Re: Phone Frozen

Turns out it was faulty connectors on the battery

Re: Phone Frozen

Interesting! If not slightly annoying considering mine's in for repair and they didn't suggest trying a different battery. Though I am sure I tried to turn the phone on without the battery, just on AC Power and still nothing, so unless it HAS to have the battery in for DC Backup at all times, who knows...

Thanks for the update though Jarvis :smileyhappy:

Re: Phone Frozen

Another problem. I just tried charging it, after about 10minutes it stopped charging and the LED light started flashing Orange and Green again. I turned off the phone where the LED went solid Orange. I took out the battery wiped the connectors making sure there was no dirt, and its now charging again. Its just frustrating, my original phone never had this problem

Re: Phone Frozen

Orange and Green flashing indicates a battery problem. Sounds like you solved it by yourself.

I picked up a cheap £4 battery from Amazon which I keep as an emergency spare.
