problem paying for app?!

hello, wonder if anyone can help..

my other half has my old contract phone (htc desire) - we had it unlocked and he's using a vodafone payg sim card in it.

he wants to download some apps that you need to pay for but it keeps asking for his card info to pay for it?!

how can we change it so it takes it from his top up credit instead??

i am also using a payg vodafone sim (htc wildfire s) and have paid for apps using my top up credit before so its obviously possible.. although i keep reading everywhere its not possible and that you have to pay by card but if i didnt then thats obviously not the case?!

when i was on conract with 3 when i had the desire it would automatically go through and i'd be charged on my bill, i never had to set up the google wallet thing that its asking now...

can anybody shed some light on this please? much appreciated.

Tiffany,

Welcome to the forum!

Firstly, where did you purchase the handset? Only handsets purchased from Vodafone will allow you to purchase apps using your Vodafone account.

This does mean that if the phone was bought from a third party or other network paying with your Vodafone account wont be possible.

seriously?! how bloody stupid and annoying is that. not happy about that at all.. its our credit - our money, we should be able to use it as we please.

is this going to be the case with other networks too or just you?

Re: problem paying for app?!

It's not that Vodafone wont let you, I'm sure they would rather you spend your money through them than anybody else.

The problem is that the option to pay using your mobile account must be enabled on the phones software.
Vodafone enable this for Android handsets purchased directly from them (either online or instore).

If you purchased your handset from a 3rd party or another network, Vodafone have never had the chance to enable this, hence why you cannot use it

It should only be the case if you use a handset not purchased from Vodafone. I am not sure what other networks support for this is like.
