Re: weather

Hi Stevieboyy,

There's no reason this would change, does your phone still locate you in other applications?

The only thing I can really suggest is sending it for repair, but I doubt that would make any difference. Hopefully another Desire S user will have noticed the same and be able to provide some advice!

Thanks,

Tom

Re: weather

Hello all,

My sensation was doing exactly the same thing, stuck on United Kingdom all the time.  I've just gone from the home screen to menu/locations/re-install which seems to have fixed the problem and given me back my city, hope this helps?

Re: weather

I have tried your suggestion many times now but still no success thanks anyways! Any mods out there that can answer this complication? Is it a software update problem or is my phone beginning to self destruct lol

Re: weather

Hi Guys,

I must admit that this is a strange one and sounds like a software or application issue.

As you have already tried removing the application and reinstalling it with some success and some where this hasn’t worked it is hard to say exactly what is causing the issue.

For this still having the issue can you confirm if the location works ok in all other applications?

Also are you able to change your default locations within the weather app?

James

All static locations are OK and are remebered...current (dynamic) location is affected...

Re: weather

Plus its no good posting on this forum Vodafone are useless cowboys who dont even know whats going on in their own company. Drop HTC (proper company) or Google (another proper company) a line they reply to all within 24hrs even sundays!

Re: weather

Hi Everyone,

We are looking into this for you. It doesn't appear to be an issue that's exclusive to Vodafone handsets, but we're doing all we can to ensure it gets resolved. I might be in touch with those who've posted for some additional info, namely IMEIs and your mobile numbers. I'll update you as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Tom

Re: weather

Well...Update

My handset was away for repair and I was using an old Magic without Sense and, hence, no weather app...

However a refurb handset was returned to me yesterday and I initially thought it was working again...

However, it located my handset correctly at home (Yateley, Hants) but failed to update at any point on the route to or at my place of work (Slough, Berks)...Although, in the past (when it was working) and probably due to the direction I face in a (large) building it always said "Colnbrook with Poyle" rather than "Slough"...Now it still says Yateley and even a manual refresh fails to make it update...

Re: weather

I got the same problem last night.

HTC Desire S on VF, (But unbranded as purchased from fone4U) At about 23.40 last night the phone was on the table at the side of me, and had not been touched for a good hour. Suddenly turned off, then on again.(Spooky).

I thought it was a 'glitch', but now find that the weather screen only shows 'United Kingdom', but if I move about one mile from home it then shows 'Preston'. My nearest City (By about 2.5 miles).

Still not got the new update, and never had a problem with it before??

Re: weather

This is a worldwide (apparantly) HTC Sense issue...loads of posts on Androidforums and on XDA...seems a similar issue occurred before earlier this year and end of 2010 (posted on this forum).

Re: weather

Had a call earlier from Lee at Vodafone as promised, they seem to be really trying to sort this, so credit to them.

I have tried turning Wifi off, and within minutes it reverts to city rather than uk, so it would appear something to do with wifi confusing the location settings, as has been said this is not a Vodafone problem, but is spread across all networks and all phones, so would tend to point to HTC, hopefully they will sort it soon, although its not major, it is annoying never the less.

Re: weather

Further to this I received an application update today named locations I installed to device and restarted however issue still appears to be present. The not sure if this was an update to fix this issue but it seems to not have resolved it on my device. I would like to say thank you to VF for looking into this and sorry I missed your call yesterday please feel free to try again if I can help.

Hope this gets sorted soon

Regards

Re: weather

Well after working for about a week, it is now showing UK again when on WIFI, works ok when on mobile though, so it looks like I will need to run down the road to get the phone to show the weather outside my front door!:smileywink:
