Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

I'm getting a similar issue connected with the constant need to complete the Vodafone Wi-Fi set up. I've reinstalled the My Vodafone app as per other posts so will see if that sorts one problem but often when I go from Wi-Fi back to mobile, it either doesn't come back unless restarted or takes a long time to re-join the network.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for providing your firmware versions along with the other information. I have now passed this onto James so he can add it to the case for investigation.

Thanks

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Hi guys,

Thanks for all of your details we now have enough examples of this issue and they have all been added to the case that has been raised to our devices teams.

We are currently investigating this and will be engaging HTC with our findings, at the moment I don’t have any further updates but will let you know once I do.

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Add me to the list as well please, have just seen the thread but been having this problem for over a month. I am having other problems as well like WiFi remains connected but browser doesn't load anything, GPS not working making any GPS program useless.

I'm getting the preparing SIM Card message every time I either turn Flight Mode off or restart/turn handset on.

Does this happen in all locations when signal is lost? Mostly yes

What postcode does this happen in? MK40, MK42 8JY, MK44, NW10 1PH (work)

What software are you running? 1.29.161.13

Do you have a Vodafone or an open market (unbranded) handset? Vodafone

Does this happen if you change the network settings to WCDMA Only? Just went to check & it was already on.

Hope this helps, It's really bugging the life out of me. Ironically, my GF's handset in white has identical software and settings but all works okay with no problems. Mine is a grey handset. dunno if that makes any difference.

J.

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

With regards to your signal dropping, I have had a couple of similar cases both of which had Vodafone branded HTC One X phones, can you please let me know if this is the case with you, if you are unsure I can check for you, all I require is your phone's IMEI or Serial number.

Please try changing the network mode to GSM Auto, this will adjust the threshold at which your phone switches between 2G and 3G as there have been previous issues with network branded devices dropping the network connection when in a weaker 3G area as the phone struggles to maintain the 3G connection.

1. From the home screen, tap Phone. 2. Enter *#*#4636#*#* 3. Tap Phone information. 4. Scroll down, then tap Preferred network type. 5. Tap GSM Auto (PRL).

Additional details :-)

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Has there been any prgress on this ? Has HTC been able to offer guidence?

It has been suggested that using the  *#*#4636#*#*  sequence to set he phoent o GSM Auto (PRL) will resolve the issue.  Does Vodafone   officially endorse this course of action?

The last thing I want to do is makes chages in a service menu only to have Vodafone at some stage accuse me of "fiddling" and thereby void any warrenty.

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

I'll try that - thanks.

The fact I have very poor reception inside the house means I can  more or less reproduce this problem at will just by going inside and walking outside agian.

So if the tape fix works it  will be obviuos.

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Mine seems better since doing the 'tape-mod' but it hasn't resolved it completely. I still sometimes find it on my desk at work (where I usually have full signal) suddenly saying "Emergency Calls only".

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

we may have two seperate problems here.

Slightly too small SIM and  getting stuck in a no signal loop/time out.

Either would more or less give the same "fault"

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Any progress on this problem? I did the GSM auto change in the service menu and it seemed to have improved although the internet connection now seems to have developed a fault. Intermitantly the phone will not connect to anything, ie facebook, ebay, google etc.... the icon shows 3g or H but everything just times out or says no connection. Switching to airplane mode and back does nothing and the only fix is a restart.

I just checked the service menu and the option had reverted back to WCDMA prefered, is this because of rebooting? Do you have to make the change everytime?

I do like the One X but it's really tempremental compared to my Desire HD!!

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Hi Guys,

At the moment the last update that we have regarding the signal on the HTC Once X is as follows;

HTC is currently working on a software fix to address the issues highlighted in this thread for the One X and One S. Once we receive the update from HTC, we'll pass it through the usual testing process and, when approved, HTC will make it available to customers as soon as possible. In the meantime, thank you for your patience whilst this was investigated.

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

Thatnks for the update. I came here looking as my One X does the eaxact same thing. It was really annoying today when I had couriered a small memorial on my bike to a funeral director (Im a Monumental mason) to be laid with burial of ashes and needed to call him, the urgency along with "crap, I need to reboot the damned thing" was infuriating!

Come on Vodafone, without wanting to appear unreasonable, the progress on this issue is not good enough. It's over 3 months since the first post and over 1 month since your last update saying working on it without any significant news. If you can't fix the problem then just switch us all into a SamsungSIII ;-)

Re: HTC One X - Signal Drop Out and Not Regained

I have a similar issue where my phone regularly drop signal but it comes back a few seconds later. This happens in lots of different locatiand, even where I have full signal. Is this hardware or software related?
